  • Nick Franklin 2B | PIT

Brewers' Nick Franklin: DFA'd on Tuesday

Franklin (hamstring) was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Tuesday.

Franklin was slashing just .195/.258/.317 in 53 games with the Brewers before being dropped from the 40-man roster. The super-utility man should garner some interest with his versatility and previous MLB experience, otherwise he'll report to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Drives in four at Triple-A

Albies went 3-for-6 with a triple, a run scored and four RBI for Triple-A Gwinnett in Monday's win over Toledo.

He's been raking since coming off the DL in mid-June, slashing .333/.387/.596 over his last 13 games with eight extra-base hits (two homers, three triples and three doubles), three steals, nine runs and 12 RBI. Albies has had an up-and-down season for Gwinnett, and Brandon Phillips' strong campaign has removed any pressure to rush the Braves' No. 3 prospect to the majors, but the 20-year-old remains firmly in the organization's plans as its second baseman of the future.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Homers against southpaw Sunday

Hernandez started at short Sunday, going 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in a win over Colorado.

With Corey Seager (hamstring) sidelined and Franklin Gutierrez (back) on the disabled list, Hernandez has started four consecutive games and could be in line for a regular role in the short term. The utility man has reached base twice in each of his last four starts, collecting two homers along the way, so he could provide deep-league value for those looking for a hot bat.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandon Drury: Heads to bench Monday

Drury is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Drury went just 1-for-11 (.091) over the first three games of the series, so he'll get a breather for Monday's series finale. Chris Owings is starting at the keystone in his place, opening up a spot for Nick Ahmed to slide into the lineup at shortstop.

  • Nick Franklin 2B | PIT

Brewers' Nick Franklin: Leaves with hamstring tightness

Franklin exited Friday's game against Atlanta with hamstring tightness, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.

Franklin slipped trying to exit the slick batters box in Atlanta and appeared to tweak his hamstring. The severity of the injury is unclear, but Franklin had only started once in the past week anyway, so don't expect him to make a swift return to the Milwaukee lineup.

  • Padres' Yangervis Solarte: Officially lands on DL

Solarte was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain, Dennis Lin of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

As expected, Solarte was shifted to the disabled list after injuring his oblique while taking a swing during pre-game warmups Wednesday. It's unclear how long the injury will keep him out, but it could be an extended absence as oblique injuries tend to linger. This is a tough blow for the Padres, as Solarte was slashing a sizzling .370/.463/.783 with six homers and a 5:7 K:BB over his last 13 contests. Carlos Asuaje was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.

  • Dilson Herrera 2B | CIN

Reds' Dilson Herrera: Placed on Triple-A DL

Herrera (concussion) has been placed on Triple-A Louisville's DL, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

As always with concussions, there's no return date set in stone yet. As mentioned by Enquirer writer Zach Buchanan, Herrera is out of options after this season, so if he can recover from this concussion look for him to get more than a September callup, just so that the Reds can get a better idea of whether to keep him on the 40-man roster.

  • Gift Ngoepe 2B | TOR

Pirates' Gift Ngoepe: Lands on minor-league DL

Ngoepe was placed on the 7-day minor-league disabled list Thursday with a left hamstring strain.

It's unclear how long the injury will keep Ngoepe sidelined at this point, but he'll be eligible to return June 30 if he is ready. The 27-year-old has struggled since returning to Triple-A Indianapolis from the Pirates at the beginning of June; he's slashing .193/.281/.333 in 16 games (64 plate appearances).

  • Diamondbacks' Brandon Drury: Not in Thursday's lineup

Drury is out of the lineup during Thursday's matchup with Colorado.

After going 4-for-6 with six RBI in Wednesday's thrashing of the Rockies, Drury will take a seat while Chris Owings takes his place manning the keystone. Drury is likely to be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Phillies.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Rest day on getaway game

Frazier is out of the lineup for Thursday's afternoon game against Milwaukee, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

After coming off a three-hit performance Wednesday night and hitting safely in six of his last seven games, Frazier will get a rest day for the getaway game before Pittsburgh heads to St. Louis for a weekend series. John Jaso will play left field and bat leadoff in his place.
