    Hoerner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two total runs scored in Saturday's 6-2 victory over Philadelphia.

    Hoerner led off the scoring Saturday with a solo shot that gave the Cubs an early lead. He came around to score again in the extra inning on a Frank Schwindel grounder. The homer was Hoerner's second of the month and sixth of the season. The shortstop has five hits in his last three games and has gone hitless just four times in 18 games this month. He is slashing .282/.320/.437 in July and possesses a .303 batting average on the season.

    Kim was initially slated to be out of the lineup for a third consecutive game, but he'll start at shortstop and bat ninth after CJ Abrams (undisclosed) was scratched. Over his last seven games, Kim has hit .333 with three doubles, four RBI, two runs and a stolen base.

    Gorman went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts during Friday's series opener against Cincinnati but will retreat to the bench with left-hander Mike Minor starting Saturday. Tommy Edman will shift to second base while Edmundo Sosa starts at shortstop.

    Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Smacks homer in big win

    Marte went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, four RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 10-1 win over the Nationals.

    Marte provided a big three-run homer in the third inning and added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. This was his third multi-hit effort in his last five games, and he's gone deep four times in his last seven. Notably, the 28-year-old started at second base -- lingering effects from a hamstring injury had limited him to designated hitter for much of the last month. He owns a .274/.364/.466 slash line with nine homers, 33 RBI, 47 runs scored, four stolen bases, two triples and 26 doubles in 340 plate appearances.
