  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Remains sidelined Tuesday

Gorman (back) is absent from the lineup Tuesday against the Athletics.

Gorman was scratched from Monday's series opener due to nagging lower-back tightness and needs at least one more day of rest. Taylor Motter is starting at second base and batting eighth for St. Louis.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

Braves' Nicky Lopez: Another start at second base

Lopez will start at second base and bat ninth Tuesday against the Yankees.

Atlanta will ride the hot hand with Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's win over New York. Vaughn Grissom should also get some starts at second while Ozzie Albies (hamstring) is on the shelf, though Lopez may be the preferred option versus right-handed pitching.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Third straight multi-hit game

Estrada went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 10-2 loss to the Rays.

Estrada accounted for the Giants' only run-producing plays of the night, driving in Joc Pederson on a base hit in the fifth inning before doubling home Michael Conforto in the eighth. The 27-year-old has now strung together three straight multi-hit games after having gone 0-for-12 with five strikeouts in the preceding three contests.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Lands on IL with strained hamstring

Albies was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a strained left hamstring.

Albies suffered what was originally called a hamstring cramp in Sunday's loss to the Mets, but subsequent testing has revealed a strain. It's unclear at this point how much time he might be on the shelf. Vaughn Grissom was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move, and he and Nicky Lopez could end up forming a platoon at second base while Albies is out.

  • Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD

Mets' Jonathan Arauz: Cranks first homer with Mets

Arauz went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's 7-2 victory over Pittsburgh.

Arauz extended New York's lead to 5-2 with a two-run homer off Quinn Priester in the fourth inning, his first long ball since June 26 last season. The 25-year-old infielder has started in five of the Mets' prior eight games, though he's gone just 3-for-23 (.130) with 4 RBI since his recall from Triple-A Syracuse.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

Braves' Nicky Lopez: Three hits, steal in win

Lopez went 3-for-4 with three RBI, a run scored and a steal in Monday's victory over the Yankees.

Lopez has been on a tear since joining Atlanta, going 7-for-10 with eight RBI through his first four games. Overall, he's slashing .241/.342/.329 with one homer, 24 runs scored, 21 RBI and five steals across 200 plate appearnces between Atlanta and Kansas City. While Lopez has mainly played a utlity role with Atlanta so far, he could see an extended run at second base with Ozzie Albies (hamstring) going on the IL.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Headed to IL

Albies (hamstring) is being placed on the 10-day injured list, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Albies was held out of Monday's matchup against the Yankees due to a left hamstring injury, and Atlanta has made the decision to move him to the injured list while he recovers. Nicky Lopez could see a good chunk of the opportunities at second base in the meantime, though Vaughn Grissom is also an option, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. The team has yet to announce a corresponding move.

  • Taylor Motter 2B | STL

Cardinals' Taylor Motter: Enters Monday's lineup

Motter was added to the lineup for Monday's game against the A's

Motter was set to work as a reserve Monday, but he will join the starting nine in place of Nolan Gorman, who was scratched with tightness in his lower back. Motter will cover the keystone and hit ninth in Monday's batting order.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Scratched with tight back

Gorman was scratched from the lineup Monday against the Athletics due to lower-back tightness, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

This back tightness has been a lingering issue for Gorman, who may need more days off down the stretch. Taylor Motter will start at second base and bat ninth as the Cardinals open a three-game series versus Oakland.

  • Mark Mathias 2B | CIN

Giants' Mark Mathias: Optioned to Sacramento

The Giants optioned Mathias to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
