The Rockies optioned Amador to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

He's being sent out to accommodate the return of Kyle Karros from the concussion injured list. Amador is 3-for-10 with one home run during his brief time in the majors this season.

The Diamondbacks placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Thursday with left knee inflammation.

After being on the restricted list all week following his no-show for the team's series in Boston, Marte will now spend at least the next 10 days on the injured list. General manager Mike Hazen said earlier Thursday he expected Marte to rejoin the team following his trip to the IL, but it's unclear if that will be in 10 days or longer, as there's been no indication of the severity of Marte's inflammation. Ildemaro Vargas should continue to handle the bulk of the playing time at second base for Arizona while Marte is out.

McLain went 1-for-4 with a grand slam, a walk and an additional run scored in Thursday's 10-9 loss to the Cardinals.

McLain matched a season high in RBI on Thursday, launching his first grand slam of the year. The infielder is enjoying a strong month in both the power and speed department, banging out four homers and four doubles while swiping four bags in 59 at-bats on the month so far. McLain is looking to close out the campaign on a high note, still slashing just .200/.298/.358 with 12 long balls, 17 doubles, 33 RBI and 15 steals over 385 plate appearances.

Marte (knee) will be placed on the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's series opener against the Reds, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen, manager Torey Lovullo and Marte's agent all met earlier Thursday, but Hazen declined to provide specifics on Marte's knee issue, only saying he expects Marte to rejoin the team following a stint on the injured list. How long that stint will be is the big question after Marte didn't show up for Arizona's series in Boston this week. Ildemaro Vargas figures to continue to see increased playing time in the middle infield while Marte is sidelined.

Arraez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Marlins.

Arraez scored the game's opening run after leading off the second inning with a single before he extended the Phillies' lead to 3-0 with his homer off Sandy Alcantara, his sixth this season. Arraez has settled in nicely in Philadelphia, going 12-for-30 (.400) with a .986 OPS over his last seven games. Overall, Arraez is slashing .319/.353/.440 with 61 runs scored and 54 RBI across 533 plate appearances between the Phillies and Giants this season.

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs scored Wednesday against the Tigers.

Lowe capped a dramatic win for Pittsburgh on Wednesday, blasting a walk-off home run against Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning. That marked the second baseman's fourth long ball of August, though he's also struck out at a 38.2 percent clip while hitting just .229 across 18 games. Lowe now has 27 homers on the season and has also reached 80 RBI for a second consecutive campaign.

Castro isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Castro will move to the bench Wednesday after going 3-for-7 with a homer, two RBI, four runs and a steal across the first two games of the series. Connor Norby will move to third base while Castro sits, opening up second for Adael Amador.

Edman isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Colorado, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Edman will get a chance to rest during Wednesday's contest after going 3-for-8 with two doubles and two runs scored during the first two games of the series. Miguel Rojas will fill in at second base and bat sixth.

Giants manager Tony Vitello indicated Wednesday that Mayer (forearm) could return from the 10-day injured list and make his team debut Monday versus the Reds, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Vitello had previously floated the possibility of Mayer being activated from the 10-day injured list this weekend, and while a return to action for the team's series in Boston hasn't been ruled out, the Giants seem to be leaning toward waiting until the start of a homestand Monday to reinstate the infielder. Mayer has been out since late June with a left forearm stress reaction but has played four rehab games with Triple-A Sacramento, going 6-for-17 with one home run and a 2:9 BB:K while making three starts at second base and one at third base. Once activated, Mayer should be in line for an everyday role in the San Francisco infield.

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen was noncommittal Wednesday when asked on the Wolf and Luke Show on 98.7 FM whether Marte (knee/personal) will return this season, Jody Jackson of DBacks.tv reports.

Marte was placed on the restricted list Monday after not showing up to Fenway Park for the Diamondbacks' game against the Red Sox as he tended to a personal matter. The second baseman has since flown back to Arizona, where he was scheduled to undergo an MRI on his left knee. He sat out Saturday's contest due to knee soreness but returned to the lineup Sunday. Hazen plans to meet with Marte face-to-face Thursday, and there could be more clarity on the 32-year-old's status after that meeting. The Diamondbacks begin a homestand Friday versus the Reds.
