Arraez went 1-for-5 with a solo home run during the Phillies' 10-4 extra-innings loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.

Arraez got the Phillies on the board with a leadoff homer off Jake Irvin in the second inning. It was the fifth home run of the season for Arraez and first as a member of the Phillies. He's gone 3-for-9 with three RBI and two extra-base hits in his first two games with his new team.

Hoerner went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Dodgers.

After batting .301 in July, Hoerner has carried his strong play over into August. He has three multi-hit performances in five games this month, which has pushed his overall batting average up from .255 to .262. A career .279 hitter, Hoerner is trending in the right direction after struggling at the plate in May and June, and he should be able to rack up plenty of stolen bases if he continues to get on base at a similar clip.

The Pirates selected Simon's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh released designated hitter Marcell Ozuna to clear room on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for Simon, who will be up in the big leagues for the first time in 2026. The 26-year-old posted an .883 OPS with eight home runs and 32 steals at Triple-A this season and should offer the Pirates some versatility off the bench. Simon is a switch hitter who is capable of playing multiple infield and outfield spots.

Marte is not in the Diamondbacks' starting lineup against the Padres on Wednesday, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Marte will receive a day off after going 0-for-6 with two walks and a strikeout over the first two games of the series. He had a .770 OPS before the All-Star break but is slashing .200/.269/.329 with two home runs, eight RBI and a 5:15 BB:K in 18 second-half games. With Marte on the bench, Ildemaro Vargas will start at the keystone and bat sixth.

Basabe will start at second base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Basabe will pick up a fifth straight start after going 5-for-15 with three home runs, a double and eight RBI through the Giants' first four games of August. At least until the Giants get trade-deadline pickup Marcelo Mayer (forearm) back from the injured list, Basabe looks like he could be in store for an everyday role at second base.

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Ramirez will head to the bench after going 1-for-11 with a walk and a stolen base while starting in each of the Cubs' last three contests. He'll give up his spot in the lineup to Tyrone Taylor, who draws a start in center field while MVP candidate Pete Crow-Armstrong gets a day off from playing defense but sticks in the starting nine at designated hitter.

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's lineup against Tampa Bay.

Castro will get a breather for the series finale after he went 6-for-17 with two home runs, four runs and three RBI while starting in the Rockies' last four games. Edouard Julien will replace Castro at second base and will bat seventh Wednesday.

Cronenworth went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

All three hits were singles. Cronenworth has hit pretty well since the All-Star break, going 17-for-62 (.274) over his last 16 games, though he has just two extra-base hits and five RBI in that span. For the season, the infielder is batting .220 with a .595 OPS, three home runs, 17 RBI, 26 runs scored, five doubles and five stolen bases over 233 plate appearances. The Padres kept their trade-deadline shopping to the pitching side of the roster, so Cronenworth should continue to see steady time at second base as long as his bat doesn't go cold.

Castro went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Rays.

This was Castro's career-high 13th homer of the season. The utility man has surged to the mark with four long balls over his last seven games, though this was his first one in that span that wasn't a solo shot. Castro is now hitting .264 with a .760 OPS, 48 RBI, 52 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 15 doubles and one triple over 97 contests in his first year with the Rockies.

Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Marlins.

Albies opened the scoring in the second inning, taking Ryan Gusto deep on the first pitch he saw for his 19th home run of the season. The veteran second baseman has now hit safely in six consecutive games. Since the All-Star break, he's batting .243 with five home runs and 12 RBI across 18 games. Through 488 plate appearances this season, Albies owns a .263/.311/.440 slash line.
