Forsythe started at first base and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Mariners.

With the Rangers sending Ronald Guzman back to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Forsythe took over at first base. He and Danny Santana are expected to share the position going forward, with Santana likely to grab a bigger share of the playing time.

Lowe (shin) got a shot Tuesday and will be held out of baseball activities for two or three days, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe has taken a long time to recover from a bruised shin that he suffered back in early July. He said that he hasn't suffered any setbacks, but the brief shutdown period would seem to suggest otherwise. Joey Wendle and Mike Brosseau have filled in at second base in his absence.

Chavis (back) is not in the lineup Tuesday against Tampa Bay but has not been placed on the injured list.

Chavis hasn't played since leaving Saturday's game with back tightness. He was thought to be at risk for a trip to the injured list to make room for Mitch Moreland's (quadriceps) return, but the Red Sox elected to option Marco Hernandez instead. Even though he remains on the roster, Chavis' playing time could take a hit with Moreland back from his injury.

Chavis (back) may require a trip to the 10-day injured list, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Chavis has missed the last two contests due to back tightness, and with Mitch Moreland (quadriceps) set to return Tuesday, the Red Sox need to make a corresponding move. Following Monday's clash, skipper Alex Cora stated that he hasn't ruled out a trip to the shelf for Chavis, though a final decision has yet to be made.

Chavis (back) is not in the lineup Monday against the Rays, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Chavis will stick on the bench for a second straight game as he continues to deal with some back tightness. Marco Hernandez is starting at second base and hitting ninth in Monday's series opener.

Semien went 1-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and a run in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.

Semien played his leadoff role well, setting the table from the top of the order on three occasions. Unfortunately for the Athletics, he was only able to come around to score once in the narrow defeat. Semien has been a steady presence on the basepaths all season (career-high .353 on-base percentage), and he's now just nine walks away from surpassing the career-best 61 he drew last season.

Lowe (bruised shin) is still not moving well taking groundballs, and it may be awhile until he is activated off the injured list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

When he was first placed on the injured list July 4, the thought was that Lowe might only miss the minimum 10 days, but things have dragged on a bit. The Rays won't activate him until he is able to field multiple positions, as they have plenty of depth and could be getting Daniel Robertson (knee) and Matt Duffy (hamstring) back next week. Manager Kevin Cash said it is a bit of a head scratcher that Lowe has been this slow to recover.

Biggio is not in Sunday's lineup against the Tigers.

The rookie second baseman is hitting .116 with an 18:11 K:BB over his last 13 games. Eric Sogard starts at the keystone and will lead off.

Chavis (back) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Orioles, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

He exited Saturday's game with back tightness and is still not 100 percent. Marco Hernandez will start at second base and hit ninth.

Lopez is not in Sunday's lineup against the Indians.

He is hitting .207 with zero home runs, zero steals, nine strikeouts and two walks in 58 at-bats this month. Whit Merrifield will start at second base while Alex Gordon, Bubba Starling and Jorge Soler start in the outfield from left to right.
