  • David Hamilton SS | MIL

Red Sox's David Hamilton: Steals two bags in loss

Hamilton entered as a pinch runner and stole two bases in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Angels.

Hamilton ran for Kristian Campbell and stole his 11th and 12th bases of the season. Five of those 12 thefts have come as a pinch runner, as Hamilton makes the most of a limited role. He's unlikely to gain a greater role going forward even with Campbell struggling at the plate. The Red Sox are dangerously close to falling out of relevancy in 2025, and if that were to happen, Hamilton would remain on the bench watching Campbell and Marcelo Mayer.

  • Red Sox's Kristian Campbell: Raps double in loss

Campbell went 1-for-3 with a walk and a double in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Angels.

Campbell's third-inning double was just his second extra-base hit since April 29. A rookie season that got off to a promising start -- Campbell had an .848 OPS in April -- went south in May, when he went 11-for-82 (.134) with a .355 OPS. Boston manager Alex Cora told Christopher Smith of MassLive.com that he prefers Campbell to work through his struggles in the majors, but the Red Sox haven't ruled out a demotion to Triple-A Worcester if the 22-year-old is unable to get going at the plate. Campbell batted ninth for a second straight game Tuesday.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Moves up order

Semien batted sixth and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay.

Semien spent nine games batting eighth or ninth, before he was moved up a few spots Tuesday. He earned the better slot by slashing .346/.419/.500 with four walks, a home run, four RBI, three steals and nine runs scored while banished to the lowest spots in the order.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Enters as pinch hitter

Schneemann went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.

Schneemann entered as a pinch hitter for Will Wilson in the ninth inning and singled in a run. He then put himself in scoring position with his third steal of the season and second in three contests. Schneemann's been a sub-.200 hitter for the last three weeks, going 10-for-56 (.179) with two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored over 19 games.

  • Jazz Chisholm 2B | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Goes yard in return

Chisholm went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Guardians.

In his first big-league game action since April 29, Chisholm broke a 1-1 tie by depositing a Tanner Bibee fastball into the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning. It was the eighth homer of the season in only 31 games for the 27-year-old infielder, and while Chisholm's .194 batting average is disappointing, it's due for positive regression -- his .210 BABIP is nearly 100 points below his career .303 mark.

  • Willi Castro LF | COL

Twins' Willi Castro: Another two-homer game

Castro went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and a walk in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Athletics.

Castro has been locked in at the plate lately, logging multiple hits in four of the last five games. Surprisingly, two of those have been multi-homer efforts, and he's also posted a 5:4 BB:K during his recent run of success. The utility player is up to a .261/.346/.457 slash line with six homers, 12 RBI, 25 runs scored, three stolen bases and nine doubles over 40 contests. He's halfway to matching his career-best homer total (12) from last season, so it's unlikely this power-hitting stretch will last long.

  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | CHW

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Sosa is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

Sosa started the previous 12 games and will take a seat Tuesday after batting .304 (14-for-46) with three doubles, a homer, six RBI and three runs during that stretch. Chase Meidroth will shift to the keystone while Vinny Capra receives a start at shortstop.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Grabbing seat Tuesday

Schneemann is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

The left-handed-hitting Scheemann will take a seat as the Yankees send southpaw Carlos Rodon to the bump. Will Wilson is at second base and batting seventh for the Guardians.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Stefanic: Booted from 40-man roster

The Blue Jays designated Stefanic for assignment Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The transaction clears space on the active roster for the return of Andres Gimenez (quad). Stefanic will likely pass through waivers unclaimed.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Returns from 10-day IL

The Blue Jays activated Gimenez (quad) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Gimenez wound up missing nearly a month of action with a right quad strain, but he's been cleared to return to action after going 2-for-12 in four rehab games. The 26-year-old is sporting just a .577 OPS in 36 contests with the Blue Jays in 2025.
