  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Twins' Luis Arraez: Socks second homer of season

Arraez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an RBI single in Saturday's 12-0 win over the Rays.

The light-hitting infielder going yard is a rare occurrence, but with seemingly every Twin getting in on the fun Saturday night, Arraez would have been rude not to homer. The Venezuelan knocked in Josh Donaldson with an RBI single in the first before taking Tampa Bay starter Michael Wacha deep in the fourth inning to again score Donaldson. This was Arraez's first home run since he slammed one over the wall on April 8 against the Mariners.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Indians' Amed Rosario: Heads to bench

Rosario will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Rosario sits for just the second time in Cleveland's last 67 games. Andres Gimenez starts at shortstop in his absence.

  • Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM

Rangers' Andy Ibanez: Not in Saturday's lineup

Ibanez will sit Saturday against Oakland.

Ibanez hits the bench after starting 19 of the Rangers' last 20 games. He's gone just 3-for-32 at the plate in his last nine games. Yonny Hernandez starts at second base in his absence.

  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Indians' Ernie Clement: Goes yard twice Friday

Clement went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's 7-4 win over the Tigers.

Starting at second base and batting ninth, Clement was able to launch the first two homers of his brief big-league career. The 25-year-old has seen his playing time fall with Andres Gimenez back on the Cleveland roster, and even after Friday's power display, Clement's .250/.296/.359 slash line in 31 games doesn't make a strong case for a regular role.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

Athletics' Elvis Andrus: Going on paternity list Saturday

Andrus will be away from the team starting Saturday to be with his wife for the birth of their child, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Those in formats with twice-weekly moves may want to remove Andrus from weekend lineups if possible, as Friday will likely be his only game this weekend.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

    Twins' Luis Arraez: Sitting Friday

Arraez is not in the lineup Friday against the Rays.

Arraez is in the midst of a nine-game hit streak in which he has gone 13-for-28 (.464), and he'll receive a breather Friday. He has a .939 OPS since the All-Star break and should be back in the starting nine shortly.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Indians' Andres Gimenez: Not starting Friday

Gimenez will not start Friday against Detroit.

Gimenez appears set to fill a platoon role down the stretch. Since his return to the big leagues last weekend, he's started against all four righties Cleveland has faced while sitting against all three lefties, including Friday's starter Tyler Alexander. Ernie Clement will be the second baseman in his absence.

  • Danny Mendick 3B | CHW

White Sox's Danny Mendick: Returned to minors

Mendick was returned to Triple-A Charlotte after the team's "Field of Dreams" Game on Thursday.

This move was procedural as Mendick was called up as the 27th player for the contest. He entered the game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and grounded out. Though he'll head back to Charlotte for now, it's possible that Mendick will find himself back up with the big-league club in short order if Adam Engel's groin injury forces him to the injured list.

  • Jack Mayfield 2B | LAA

Angels' Jack Mayfield: Takes seat Thursday

Mayfield is not in Thursday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

Mayfield was out of the lineup for the second game of the team's doubleheader Tuesday, but he has otherwise been a consistent presence in the lineup at third base. He went through a recent hot stretch where he slugged three home runs in four contests between Aug. 3 and Aug. 6. However, Mayfield has gone hitless across his last 14 plate appearances -- spanning four games. Phil Gosselin will take over at third base and bat fourth in Mayfield's place.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Begins rehab assignment

Biggio (back/neck) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

Biggio landed on the injured list Aug. 3, and it's unlikely that he'll require a lengthy rehab assignment given the brevity of his absence. The 26-year-old is eligible to return as early as Friday, but the Blue Jays haven't yet indicated whether he'll return to the majors after just one rehab game.
