  • Red Sox's Enrique Hernandez: Leadoff homer

Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday against the Orioles.

Hernandez took Alexander Wells yard on the first pitch of the game to record his 19th home run of the season. He now has at least one hit in eight of his last 10 starts, four of which have been multi-hit efforts. In that same span, Hernandez has also recorded two home runs, five RBI and nine runs scored. On the campaign, he's maintained a .250/.335/.448 slash line across 570 plate appearances.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Goes deep again

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk Thursday in a 3-2 loss to the Astros.

Lowe accounted for all of Tampa Bay's offense when he took Houston starter Lance McCullers deep in the sixth inning to pull the Rays within a run. Lowe has gone deep in back-to-back games to up his team-leading season total to 36. He put together a .301/.352/.554 line during the month of September.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Indians' Andres Gimenez: Sitting again Thursday

Gimenez is not in Thursday's lineup against the Royals.

The second baseman is on the bench for the second consecutive game. Over his last 10 contests, he has registered at least one hit in eight games while batting .379 with three home runs and seven RBI. Owen Miller starts at second base Thursday and will bat eighth.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

    Indians' Amed Rosario: Sitting Thursday

Rosario is out of the lineup Thursday versus the Royals.

The shortstop will take a seat after starting the team's last six contests since returning from the COVID-19 list Sept. 24. In those contests, he got multiple hits three times and drove in four runs. Yu Chang gets the start at shortstop and is batting fifth Thursday.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Blue Jays' Marcus Semien: Makes history in Wednesday's win

Semien went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Yankees.

With his first-inning blast off Gerrit Cole, Semien became the all-time single-season home run champ at second base, with his 44 long balls topping Davey Johnson's record of 43 set in 1973. The 31-year-old is one of only four second sackers in history to hit more than 40 homers in a year, joining Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby and Brian Dozier is a very exclusive club. Semien's September power display -- 12 home runs in 27 games -- is a big reason why Toronto is still in the hunt for a wild-card spot.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Three hits in loss

Torres went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays.

It's been a tough season for the 24-year-old, both in the field and at the plate, but he's at least putting together a good finish. Torres is slashing .294/.355/.412 through 24 games in September with two homers, two steals, seven RBI and 13 runs.

  • Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM

Rangers' Andy Ibanez: Has multiple hits in loss

Ibanez started at second base and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Angels.

Ibanez posted his third consecutive multi-hit game and has a .967 OPS over 10 games since returning from a hamstring injury. He should find a home on the major league roster in 2022 after being the Rangers best hitter over the second half.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Athletics' Tony Kemp: Swats homer in loss

Kemp went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Mariners.

Logan Gilbert kept the A's off the scoreboard until the sixth inning when Kemp took advantage of a fastball right over the heart of the plate and sent it over the right field wall. It was his first home run since Sept. 3 and his seventh of the year. The 29-year-old typically isn't known for his power but has shown a knack for getting on base at a relatively high rate. That has proven to be true this season, as Kemp is slashing .266/.374/.398 with 25 extra-base hits, 32 RBI, 51 runs scored, seven steals and 51:51 BB:K over 384 plate appearances.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Belts 35th long ball

Lowe went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored Wednesday in a 7-0 win over Houston.

Lowe's second-inning homer gave Tampa Bay a 3-0 lead, and he was on base when Ji-Man Choi launched a three-run shot in the fifth frame. Lowe's long ball snapped an 11-game homerless stretch, which was his second-longest power drought of the campaign. The 27-year-old is tied for 10th in the American League with 35 homers on the season.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Ignites offense early Wednesday

Buxton went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Tigers.

After Luis Arraez and Byron Buxton opened the game with singles off Detroit starter Casey Mize, Polanco stepped to the plate and launched his 32nd homer of the season. It snapped a nine-game homerless funk for Polanco, who is just 6-for-37 (.162) over his last 10 contests. Despite the recent rough patch, Polanco has been terrific in 2021, hitting .271 with an .832 OPS while establishing career highs in homers and RBI (94). He's also thrown in 11 stolen bases (17 attempts) for good measure.
