  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Twins' Luis Arraez: Launches grand slam

Arraez went 3-for-5 with a grand slam in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Rays.

Arraez's line looks like that of a typical first baseman, rather than the elite-contact, minimal-power archetype that he actually fits into. He even struck out once, something he'd done in just one of his previous eight games. His third-inning grand slam off Shane Baz means he now has two homers in his last three games, though he still has a total of just three on the year.

  • Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Back from paternity leave

Rengifo returned from the paternity list Saturday and will bat eighth and play second base against the Mets, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Rengifo was away from the team for the last three days for the birth of his child. He'd been in a slump immediately prior to his absence, going 1-for-20 at the plate over his last six games, so the Angels will hope the time off allowed him to reset and clear his head.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Slams 11th homer

Torres went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Cubs.

Offense was sparse in the contest, and Torres provided the Yankees' only run before the 13th inning with a solo shot in the fourth. The long ball was his 11th of the campaign through 182 at-bats, already surpassing the nine homers he hit in 516 at-bats last season. Torres is slashing .324/.395/.647 with three home runs, five RBI and a stolen base over his past nine contests.

  • Danny Mendick 3B | CHW

White Sox's Danny Mendick: Slugs second homer

Mendick went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday against the Rangers.

Mendick took John King yard in the eighth inning to cap a five-run rally. He's stepped into the primary role at shortstop with Tim Anderson (groin) sidelined, and Mendick has collected eight hits in his last 10 contests while hitting .324 with six RBI and seven runs scored. Overall, he's hitting .283/.317/.433 across 64 plate appearances.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

    Rays' Brandon Lowe: Taking swings

Lowe (back) took dry swings Friday, Brian Hall of MLB.com reports.

Lowe has been sidelined since May 16 and this marked his first progress of any kind. He'll continue the rehab process, likely moving to tee work next. Lowe's return still appears to be at least a couple of weeks away.

  • Vidal Brujan 2B | NYM

Rays' Vidal Brujan: Pops first homer of year

Brujan went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Twins.

Getting the start in right field and batting fifth, Brujan ripped his first homer of the season to left in the seventh inning off Devin Smeltzer. The 24-year-old continues to see regular playing time in a utility role while Brandon Lowe (back) and Wander Franco (quadriceps) are on the shelf, but he hasn't exactly seized his opportunity -- Brujan has started 11 of the last 12 games but has only a .171/.225/.314 slash line to show for it.

  • Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD

Red Sox's Jonathan Arauz: Designated for assignment

Arauz was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Arauz was called up by Boston on Wednesday, and he went 0-for-3 with a strikeout during Thursday's loss to the Angels. The 23-year-old will be cast off the 40-man roster after Rob Refsnyder's contract was selected by the Red Sox.

  • Jack Mayfield 2B | LAA

Angels' Jack Mayfield: Sent down Friday

Mayfield was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Mayfield was recalled by the Angels on Wednesday, and he went 0-for-8 with a run and two strikeouts over two games during his stint with the big-league club. However, he'll head back to the Triple-A club after Anthony Rendon was activated Friday.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Mariners' Adam Frazier: Not in Friday's lineup

Frazier will be on the bench Friday against the Mariners.

Frazier will sit against southpaw Rich Hill, which means he's now been on the bench against three of the last five lefties the Mariners have faced. Abraham Toro will start at second base.

  • Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM

Rangers' Andy Ibanez: Sent back to Triple-A

Ibanez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Ibanez was optioned Sunday but returned two days later, only to head back to the minors three days after that. How long he'll be off the roster this time around is not yet clear. He hasn't done much at the plate at the big-league level this season, hitting .218/.273/.277 in 40 games.
