Haggerty (forehead) went 2-for-2 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-6 victory over the Yankees.

Haggerty entered Tuesday's game as a pinch hitter for Jarred Kelenic and launched a go-ahead solo shot in the seventh inning. This was his first home run since July 14. Haggerty has seen limited time this season with just 72 at-bats, but he has performed well. The outfielder has five multi-hit performances across 18 appearances since the start of July. Haggerty is slashing .306/.351/.528 on the season, with three home runs and five steals.

Short was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Short was optioned to Triple-A late last month, but he will rejoin the Tigers on the heels of the moves they made the last couple days. He figures to fill a utility role for the big club.

The Blue Jays acquired Merrifield from the Royals on Tuesday in exchange for right-hander Max Castillo and infielder Samad Taylor, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Merrifield notably wasn't eligible to enter Canada for the Royals' series in Toronto shortly before the All-Star break, so the Blue Jays presumably signed off on the deal with the understanding that the 33-year-old will choose to get vaccinated. If that's the case, Merrifield should settle in as the Blue Jays' everyday second baseman, allowing Santiago Espinal and Cavan Biggio to handle utility roles. Merrifield's performance has dipped in 2022 compared to years past, but he's batting .266 since the beginning of May and has registered 15 stolen bases in 18 attempts this season.

Haggerty (forehead) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, but he should be available off the bench.

Haggerty will take a seat for the third game in a row, but his continued absence from the lineup looks to be a managerial decision rather than the result of an injury. Though the 28-year-old exited Saturday's 5-4 win over Houston after suffering a cut on his forehead that required eight stitches, he was deployed off the bench as a pinch runner in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Astros. Haggerty simply appears to be viewed as a bench player, even though the Mariners are at less than full strength in the outfield with all of Julio Rodriguez (wrist), Dylan Moore (back), Mitch Haniger (ankle) and Taylor Trammell (hamstring) on the injured list.

Torres isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

DJ LeMahieu will play second base in place of Torres, who is 1-for-14 with six strikeouts in his last three games.

Miller went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

Miller missed one game with a right forearm bruise. He was able to play all 11 innings at first base Monday, and he supplied a homer in the second inning to give the Guardians their first two runs in the game. He's gone 17 games without a multi-hit effort, slashing .241/.311/.389 in that span. The infielder has a .247/.302/.375 slash line for the year while adding five homers, 42 RBI, 40 runs scored and a stolen base through 341 plate appearances.

Rosario went 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBI in Monday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

This was Rosario's first multi-hit effort in his last five games. He hit a two-run blast in the third inning and then added a third RBI with a walkoff single in the 11th. The shortstop hit a strong .298 in July, and he's maintained a .294/.329/.408 slash line with five homers, 38 RBI, 56 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 96 games overall.

Gimenez went 4-for-5 with a double, a run scored, an RBI and three stolen bases in Monday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

The Guardians went 4-for-4 in steal attempts on the night, but Gimenez was the one tormenting Arizona catcher Carson Kelly the most. Over his last 12 games, Gimenez is slashing .341/.408/.591 with two of his 12 homers and four of his 11 steals on the season.

Mathias and Antoine Kelly were traded to the Rangers from the Brewers on Monday in exchange for Matt Bush, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Mathias had been with the Brewers since 2020, but he could not find his way onto the big-league roster despite posting a .939 OPS at the Triple-A level, so he was dealt for bullpen help. Mathias could get more opportunities with the Rangers the rest of the way.

Lopez went 2-for-3 with a stolen base in Monday's 2-1 win over the White Sox.

Lopez was the only Royal with multiple hits in the contest, and he added a steal in the seventh inning. He's gone 4-for-20 (.200) over his last eight games, which isn't doing much to earn him more playing time. Maikel Garcia is hitting .316 in the majors this year and appears to have taken over as the starting shortstop with Bobby Witt (hand) sidelined. That's left Lopez to compete with Hunter Dozier for time at third base. For the season, Lopez has a mediocre .248/.300/.297 slash line with eight steals, 13 RBI, 35 runs scored, 11 doubles and two triples. He'll likely be in the lineup mostly against right-handed pitchers.
