Michael Massey 2B | KC
Royals' Michael Massey: Gets call-up Wednesday
Massey's contract was selected from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
Massey had a brief stint on the active roster in mid-July as a replacement player during the Royals' series in Toronto, and he went 3-for-8 with a strikeout over three games. He's starting at second base and batting seventh Wednesday against the Twins and should provide infield depth for Kansas City after Whit Merrifield was traded to the Blue Jays.

Short's stay with the Tigers lasted just one day, with the 27-year-old going unused in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Twins. He'll be replaced on the active roster by Daz Cameron, who was recalled from Toledo to bolster the Tigers' outfield depth after Robbie Grossman was shipped to Atlanta earlier this week.

Adam Frazier 2B | LAA
Mariners' Adam Frazier: Reaches base four times
Frazier went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Yankees.
Frazier has been a solid source of batting average and steals dating back to the beginning of July, as he's hitting .323 while chipping in four stolen bases over a stretch of 26 games. After making each of his last three starts in the outfield, Frazier will be back at his natural second base position Wednesday while batting second in the series finale in New York.

Twins' Luis Arraez: On bench against southpaw
Arraez isn't starting Wednesday against the Tigers.

Owen Miller 2B | CHC
Guardians' Owen Miller: Gets third straight start
Miller will start at first base and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
He'll pick up his third consecutive start after going 1-for-8 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run in the first two contests of the series. Miller has typically been occupying a short-side platoon role at first base in recent weeks with Josh Naylor -- who is sitting Wednesday with lefty Tommy Henry on the hill for Arizona -- but manager Terry Francona could find room for both hitters to play more frequently against right-handers in the wake of top designated hitter Franmil Reyes being optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
-
Ernie Clement SS | TOR
Guardians' Ernie Clement: Heads to minors
The Guardians optioned Clement to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
Clement will surrender his role as the Guardians' top utility infielder to Tyler Freeman, who was called up from Columbus in a corresponding move. The 26-year-old Clement had seen scarce playing time at the big-league level this season, with most of his opportunities coming against left-handed pitching. He hit just .203 with three extra-base hits -- all doubles -- in 158 plate appearances with Cleveland.
-
Sam Haggerty LF | TEX
Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Returns to lineup
Haggerty (forehead) is starting Wednesday against the Yankees.
Haggerty wasn't in the lineup over the last three games due to a cut on his forehead, but he appeared as a pinch hitter Tuesday and went 2-for-2 with a solo homer and two runs. He'll start in right field while Kyle Lewis serves as the designated hitter.
-
Whit Merrifield 2B | ATL
Blue Jays' Whit Merrifield: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Merrifield was traded from the Royals to the Blue Jays on Tuesday but won't make his team debut during Wednesday's series finale in Tampa Bay. Santiago Espinal is starting at the keystone and batting eighth.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Sitting against lefty
Lowe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Along with Lowe, fellow left-handed-hitting regulars Ji-Man Choi and Luke Raley will take a seat while southpaw Yusei Kikuchi takes the hill for Toronto. Yu Chang will step in at second base as a replacement for Lowe, who went 8-for-38 (.211 average) with four extra-base hits (two home runs, two doubles) over his last 10 games.
