  • Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Collects three hits

Dubon went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss against the Mariners.

Dubon delivered his first three-hit game since July 15 and even managed to tag Eduard Bazardo for a solo home run in the ninth inning. Over his last eight appearances, Dubon is 9-for-26 (.346) with five runs scored and four RBI while striking out only twice in 29 plate appearances.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: On bench versus lefty

Lowe is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe will take a seat as left-hander Patrick Sandoval takes the mound for Los Angeles in Game 2. Isaac Paredes will slide over to second base while Curtis Mead enters the lineup at third base and bats fifth against the Angels.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Orioles' Adam Frazier: Sits against southpaw

Frazier will sit Saturday against the Athletics.

With a lefty (Ken Waldichuk) on the mound for the opposition, Frazier will take up his usual spot on the bench. Since the start of June, the only two southpaws he's started against have been openers rather than true starters. Jordan Westburg will handle second base Saturday.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Mariners' Josh Rojas: Sits against southpaw

Rojas will sit against lefty Framber Valdez and the Astros on Saturday.

Rojas has started 10 times since moving from Arizona to Seattle at the deadline, but all 10 of those starts have come against righties. Rojas actually owns a marginally higher wRC+ against lefties (92) than against righties (89) for his career, but the Mariners seem set on using him in a platoon role at second base. Dylan Moore will handle the keystone Saturday.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Athletics' Tony Kemp: Multi-hit effort in loss

Kemp went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in a loss to the Orioles on Friday.

After going 0-for-4 in his first game back from paternity leave Tuesday, Kemp got Wednesday off and then produced his first multi-hit effort since July 28 in the loss. The veteran hadn't recorded a hit in 14 plate appearances during August before Friday's pair of knocks, only his second multi-game slump since late June.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Lone source of offense

Andrus went 3-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Rockies.

Andrus has stepped into the leadoff role of late with Tim Anderson (suspension) in and out of the lineup. He's quietly excelled in the role, tallying hits in four consecutive games while going 8-for-18 with two runs scored and five RBI in the same span. Andrus' season-long line is still underwhelming, but he looks to be locked into everyday playing time to close the season.

  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Tigers' Isan Diaz: Sent back to Toledo

Detroit optioned Diaz to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

Diaz went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts during his five-day stay on the Tigers' major-league roster. Javier Baez has been activated from the bereavement list in a corresponding move.

  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Recalled from Charlotte

The White Sox recalled Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

The 23-year-old will likely get a few starts in Chicago's infield while Tim Anderson serves his five-game suspension for an on-field fight with Jose Ramirez earlier this month. Sosa holds a career .126 batting average and .366 OPS in 33 games (106 plate appearances) at the major-league level but a more palatable .271/.313/.507 slash line at Charlotte this season with 17 homers in 71 games.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Not in lineup for first game

Gimenez is absent from the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Southpaw Tarik Skubal is toeing the rubber for the Tigers in the afternoon game, so the left-handed hitting Andres Gimenez will yield to Tyler Freeman at second base. Gimenez should be back out there for the nightcap.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Red Sox's Luis Urias: Pops grand slam in loss

Urias went 2-for-3 with a grand slam in Thursday's 10-7 loss to the Nationals.

The Red Sox were getting rolled by Washington until Urias and Rafael Devers each homered as part of a six-run seventh inning. Urias, who shares second base with Pablo Reyes and typically slots in at the bottom of the order, is batting .250 (7-for-28) since being acquired from Milwaukee and called up at the beginning of August.
