O'Hearn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Rays.

O'Hearn's blast was one of only four hits for the Orioles in the game, and he struck out in his other three at-bats. With Ryan Mountcastle nursing a shoulder injury, O'Hearn may get more playing time at first base in the coming days, although top prospect Heston Kjerstad has also joined the big-league roster and figures to be in the 1B/DH mix. O'Hearn has maintained a solid September so far, going 11-for-35 (.314) with two homers and nine RBI across 10 games. He's slashing .299/.330/.505 with 13 long balls, 54 RBI, 42 runs scored and four stolen bases through 309 plate appearances this season.

Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.

The first baseman gave Toronto an early lead when he took Nathan Eovaldi deep in the first inning, but Texas surged ahead in the top of the second and never looked back. Guerrero is scuffling again in September, slashing .224/.333/.388 through 13 games with two of his 22 homers, but with 86 RBI on the season and 15 games left on the Blue Jays' schedule, he still has an outside shot at his second career 100-RBI campaign.

Steer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 8-2 loss to the Tigers.

Steer launched his team-leading 21st home run of the season in the sixth inning. In addition to his homers, he leads the Reds with 79 RBI. While manager David Bell may shuttle players in and out of the starting lineup, he appears to be making an effort to get Steer in the lineup daily.

Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday in a loss to the Twins.

Vaughn kept the White Sox from getting shut out with his two-run blast to left field in the seventh inning. The long ball was his 20th of the campaign, marking the first time he has reached that number in three seasons as a major-leaguer. Vaughn has added a career-high 63 runs and needs just one more RBI to tie the career-best mark of 76 he established last year.

Medical imaging on Mountcastle's left shoulder revealed no damage Thursday, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Manager Brandon Hyde added that Mountcastle won't require a trip to the injured list and may even be available off the bench Thursday against the Rays. The 26-year-old first baseman is slashing just .194/.324/.194 across 37 plate appearances since the beginning of September.

Mountcastle (shoulder) is out of the lineup Thursday against the Rays.

Mountcastle exited Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Cardinals after feeling his left shoulder pop during a swing in the first inning. He's slated to get an MRI later Thursday, at which time more details about the severity of his injury should be available. The Orioles called up outfielder Heston Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk to give the team an extra healthy bat in the short term.

Santana is not in the lineup Thursday versus the Marlins.

Rowdy Tellez will start at first base and bat cleanup as the Brewers take on impressive young right-hander Eury Perez. Santana, 37, has slashed just .230/.295/.395 in 166 plate appearances since being acquired from the Pirates ahead of the Aug. 1 trade deadline.

Encarnacion-Strand is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Detroit.

Encarnacion-Strand started Wednesday's game and reached base twice, but this now marks the third time he's been out of the lineup in the Reds' last four contests. With Joey Votto back from the injured list and Jake Fraley limited to DH duty, the playing time squeeze for Encarnacion-Strand could continue.

Lowe went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 win over Toronto.

Lowe helped get the party started with a three-run home run as part of a four-run, fourth inning that broke a scoreless tie. The RBI bumped his season total to a career-high 77, and the homer, his 16th, was his first blast in 23 games. Lowe was dropped to sixth in the order for a second straight game, both against left-handers, as Rangers manager Bruce Bochy navigates a lineup without Adolis Garcia (knee) and Josh Jung (thumb).

Alonso went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in a 7-1 victory versus Arizona on Wednesday.

Alonso kicked off the scoring in the contest with an RBI single in the first inning and added a two-run double in the fifth. The slugger is up to 108 runs batted in on the campaign, second-most in the majors. Alonso has also belted 44 homers -- he and Matt Olson are the only big-leaguers so far this season with at least 40 long balls and 100 RBI.
