  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Marlins' Justin Bour: Sits against southpaw

Bour is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Braves, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Bour will sit against left-handed rookie Kolby Allard. Miguel Rojas will slide over to first base in his absence, with JT Riddle starting at shortstop.

  • Phillies' Asdrubal Cabrera: Gets first hits in Phillies uniform

Cabrera went 2-for-6 with a run and a double in Monday's loss in Boston.

Cabrera has started all three games since being shipped to Philadelphia on Friday, appearing once at shortstop, once at second base, and once as a designated hitter. The Phillies seem committed to getting him in the lineup on a regular basis at various spots around the diamond, which could help Cabrera keep eligibility at multiple positions next season.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Slugs 18th homer

Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Marlins.

It was his 18th homer of the year but just his third in July, although Freeman's still maintained value on the month with a .299/.351/.494 slash line, 12 runs and 13 RBI in 22 games. Given his red-hot first half, don't be surprised if Freeman picks up the pace again in August.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

    Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Homers again

Rizzo went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Cardinals.

Rizzo took John Gant deep in the third inning to record his 15th home run of the season. He has been on a power surge of late, homering in three of his past four games. Prior to that stretch, he had not cleared the fences since June 24, and his slugging percentage (.440) is on pace to be the worst of his career in a full season of play.

  • Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Goes deep

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Padres.

Goldschmidt took southpaw Joey Lucchesi deep in the first inning for his 23rd home run of the season. He has hit left-handers extremely hard this season, recording a .604 slugging percentage against them through 111 at-bats. While he likely won't match his prolific production in June again this season, he has continued to hit for power as Sunday's long ball marked his sixth in July.

  • Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Drives in two

Goldschmidt went 2-for-6 with two RBI against the Padres on Saturday.

Goldschmidt earned his first multi-RBI effort since July 7 despite not recording an extra-base hit. After a tremendous June, he has cooled off in July but is still slugging .536 with 14 RBI and 10 runs scored this month.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Pirates' Josh Bell: Lands on DL with oblique strain

Bell was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with a left oblique strain, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Jose Osuna, who was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move, is starting at first base and hitting fifth against righty Jacob deGrom. Colin Moran, David Freese and Sean Rodriguez will all be options to also get starts at first base while Bell is out. Bell is hitting .266/.347/.402 with just six home runs in 404 plate appearances.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Pirates' Josh Bell: Held out Saturday

Bell (side) isn't in Saturday's starting lineup against the Mets, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Bell exited Friday's tilt due to left side discomfort, and the Pirates have since called up Jose Osuna from Triple-A Indianapolis, so a short stint on the disabled list may be in order. More news on the extent of Bell's injury should surface in the near future.

  • Phillies' Asdrubal Cabrera: Gets nod at shortstop

Cabrera is set to bat fifth and man shortstop in his first start since being dealt to the Phillies, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Although the switch hitter figures to be used all over the infield, he'll draw the start at shortstop with Matt Harvey slated to toe the rubber for the Reds. Cabrera is batting .285 with 14 homers and 44 RBI (260 at-bats) against right-handed pitching in 2018.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Marlins' Justin Bour: Takes seat vs. lefty

Bour is not in Saturday's starting lineup against Washington, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Bour will get the day off as lefty Gio Gonzalez is slated to toe the rubber for the opposition. J.T. Realmuto is penciled into the lineup at first base.
