Wade (knee) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old was out of the lineup Tuesday due to stiffness in the back of his knee, and he'll remain on the bench to begin Wednesday's matchup. However, left-hander Kyle Freeland is on the mound for the Rockies, so Wade likely would've gotten a day off anyway. Wade's next chance to return to the lineup will be Friday against the Padres. Darin Ruf, Austin Slater and Mike Yastrzemski will start in the outfield from left to right.

Goldschmidt went 4-for-9 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader split with the Mets.

The veteran first baseman supplied the Cardinals' only run of the matinee with a solo shot off Drew Smith in the eighth inning, but that only warmed Goldschmidt up for the nightcap as he went 3-for-5 with RBI two-baggers in the fourth and fifth frames. He extended his hitting streak to 10 games in the process, a stretch during which he's slashing .439/.465/.878 with an incredible nine doubles, three homers, a steal, eight runs and 12 RBI.

Cron went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored Tuesday against the Giants.

Cron extended his hitting streak to five games with the strong performance, his third multi-hit effort over that span. He's also scored seven runs and driven in four while hitting .455 overall during the sample. Cron hasn't gone yard since May 3, but he has still maintained a very productive .321/.368/.593 line across 152 plate appearances on the season.

Hiura was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Hiura spent the first month of the season on the major-league roster and hit .216 with two homers, five runs, five RBI and a stolen base. After going 8-for-19 with three homers, 10 RBI and three runs over five games in Nashville, the 25-year-old will rejoin the major-league club to provide additional infield depth after Willy Adames (ankle) was placed on the 10-day IL.

Freeman went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk in a 12-3 win Tuesday over Arizona.

Freeman doubled in the first and was intentionally walked in the second, scoring each time. He added a two-run double in the sixth and drove in another run with a two-bagger in the eighth as the Dodgers routed Arizona. With 14 doubles, the first baseman is tied for the major-league lead, and Tuesday marked the second time this month he doubled three times in a game. Despite not homering in his last 21 contests, Freeman has still been productive at the plate with a .307/.424/.480 batting line and 15:11 BB:K in 92 plate appearances during that span.

Walker went 3-for-7 with two home runs, a walk and three RBI between both games of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.

Walker has now homered in three consecutive contests and has a .321 average through 16 games in May. Overall this season the 31-year-old is hitting .219/.310/.484 with nine home runs, 18 RBI and 18 runs.

Votto (illness) said Tuesday he believes he could play Friday against the Blue Jays, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Votto's rehab assignment has moved to High-A Dayton this week, and he's on the cusp of returning from the COVID-19 injured list. The 38-year-old appeared in two games with Triple-A Toledo before shifting to Dayton and went 1-for-4 with three walks, an RBI and a run scored.

Smith went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run during the Game 1 victory, and he'll take a seat for the nightcap with lefty Steven Matz on the mound for St. Louis. J.D. Davis will bat seventh as the designated hitter.
