  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Mashes eighth homer

Olson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

The first baseman gave Atlanta an insurance run in the eighth inning, taking Chase De Jong deep for his eighth homer of the year. Olson has begun to pick up the pace at the plate, slashing .276/.333/.534 over his last 14 games with six doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Blasts 18th homer

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Angels.

His solo shot in the ninth inning of Los Angeles closer Raisel Iglesias gave the Mets an insurance run in a 4-1 win. Alonso has hit safely in seven straight starts, and over his last 15 games he's slashing .314/.431/.765 with seven of his 18 homers on the year.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Nearly hits for cycle

Walker went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, three RBI, a run scored and a walk in Sunday's 13-1 win over Philadelphia.

Walker knocked an RBI double in the fifth inning and added a two-run single in the sixth. The three-RBI day matched the total output over his previous 10 games. He improved his slash line to .207/.302/.474 with 31 RBI and 26 extra-base hits through 242 plate appearances.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

Diamondbacks' Drew Ellis: Designated for assignment

Ellis was designated for assignment by the DIamondbacks on Sunday.

Ellis has appeared in 34 major-league games over the last two years but hasn't made much of an impact, hitting .134/.268/.207. His absence clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Luke Weaver (elbow) to return from the 60-day injured list.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Receives rare rest

Goldschmidt will sit Sunday against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Goldschmidt finds himself on the bench for just the third time this season. While he still owns an excellent .327/.411/.577 slash line, he's gone hitless over his last three games, so a day off seems like a good idea. Juan Yepez will handle first base in his absence.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Goes deep in loss

Freeman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Giants.

The Dodgers racked up 13 hits in the contest but had trouble putting runs on the board throughout. They trailed by two entering the ninth inning, and Freeman cut the deficit in half with his 403-foot solo shot leading off the frame. The long ball snapped a 14-game homerless streak for the veteran, who has slugged only five home runs through 59 games on the campaign -- well behind his 31-homer pace from last season.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Optioned to Albuquerque

Montero was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque between the two halves of Saturday's doubleheader against the Padres.

Both of Montero's stints with the big-league squad have been quite brief, and he hasn't made the most of his very limited opportunities, going 2-for-13 with five strikeouts. Jake Bird had his contract selected to take Montero's place on the roster.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: To COVID-19 IL

Cooper was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

He was removed from Friday's game with cramping, but this trip to the IL came without an injury designation. Cooper had been red-hot at the plate, slashing .455/.507/.682 with two home runs over his last 66 at-bats. Jorge Soler is slotted in at designated hitter while Luke Williams gets a start in the outfield Saturday.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Swipes rare bag

Alonso went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Friday's 7-3 win over the Angels.

The slugger caught the battery of Andrew Wantz and Max Stassi napping in the fifth inning. Alonso has two steals on the season and only seven for his career, but to his credit he's never been caught stealing. Of course, that's not the reason he's a fantasy asset -- the 27-year-old is also slashing .281/.359/.538 with 16 homers and 54 RBI through 59 games in 2022.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Two solo homers in win

Hoskins went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's victory over Arizona.

Hoskins scored the first and last runs of Friday's game against the Diamondbacks with two solo home runs, helping the Phillies to a win. The first baseman is in the midst of a four-game hit streak, two of which were multi-hit efforts. Hoskins has a June slash line of .281/.378/.594, and he will look to keep this productive month going as the series against Arizona continues.
