  • Darick Hall 1B | PIT

Phillies' Darick Hall: Called up Friday

Hall was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Hall will return to the big leagues after being sent down Aug. 22. The 27-year-old has posted a .264 batting average with nine homers, 16 RBI and 19 runs scored over 129 at-bats over 38 games with the Phillies this season. Yairo Munoz was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Adds steal Thursday

Freeman went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Padres.

Freeman was on the back end of a double steal that also saw Trea Turner swipe third in the sixth inning. The theft extended Freeman's career high to 13 stolen bases in 16 attempts this year. He's now gone seven games without a multi-hit effort -- he's only had four such stretches this year, which contributes to his lofty .327 batting average. He has a .920 OPS, 20 home runs, 97 RBI, 113 runs scored, 46 doubles and two triples through 153 contests.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Remains on bench

Wade will sit Thursday against the Rockies, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Wade typically starts against righties while sitting against lefties, but he's now sat against a right-hander in three straight contests. His overall .193/.296/.356 slash line on the season is quite poor, though both his 10.3 percent barrel rate and 20.9 percent strikeout rate are better than league average, hinting at the potential for a bounceback season next year.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Padres' Josh Bell: Remains out of lineup Thursday

Bell isn't starting Thursday against the Dodgers, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Bell has gone 0-for-15 with two runs, an RBI, four walks and a strikeout over his last six games, and he'll take a seat for the third time in the last four matchups. Brandon Dixon is serving as the designated hitter and batting seventh.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: On bench against southpaw

Tellez isn't in the lineup Thursday against Miami.

Tellez started against a southpaw during Wednesday's series finale against the Cardinals, but the left-handed hitter will take a seat with southpaw Braxton Garrett on the mound Thursday. Keston Hiura is starting at first base and batting seventh.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

Rockies' Michael Toglia: Struggling with strikeouts

Toglia went 0-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday against the Giants.

Toglia grounded out in the top of the ninth inning to drive in his 11th run of the season. Across his last 14 starts, Toglia has struck out at a 38.9 percent clip with a .160 average. Despite his struggles, he's maintained a consistent role in between first base and the outfield.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

    Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Resting Thursday

Rivas is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies.

Rivas has been the Cubs' primary first baseman in September, but he will be held out Thursday with manager David Ross loading up on right-handed hitters against Phillies southpaw Ranger Suarez. David Bote will cover first base in Rivas' place.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Knocks in three in win

Walker went 1-for-4 with three RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 extra-inning win over the Astros.

Walker delivered a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly and followed with a two-out, two-run single in the 10th. The 31-year-old first baseman has a team-high and career-high 91 RBI through 154 games. Walker, who also leads the team with 36 home runs, resuscitated his career in 2022 after a couple of down seasons. He's still under team control for the next two years and is almost certain to return as the primary first baseman in 2023.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Crushes 30th home run

Olson went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2, extra-inning loss against Washington.

The Atlanta slugger took an 0-2 fastball from Josiah Gray the opposite way to left field for his 30th home run of the season and tie the game at 1-1. Olson's bat has come back to life the last couple of days after he received a breather Sept. 24 in response to a .111/.210/.167 slash line in his first 81 September plate appearances. Since the breather, he is 5-for-14 with three extra-base hits.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Sitting Wednesday

Flores is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rockies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Flores is hitless in his past four games and will take a seat Wednesday with righty Jose Urena pitching for Colorado. Evan Longoria will bat cleanup as the designated hitter.
