Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: X-rays negative
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Walker sustained a right elbow contusion during Saturday's loss to the Orioles, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.
Walker was hit by a pitch on the elbow, and X-rays following the game indicated he may have dodged a more serious injury. "X-rays (were) negative, which is great," Walker said. "Just a ton of nerve pain." The injury was initially described as right hand discomfort because the pitch hit a nerve in the elbow and resulted in numbness in the hand and fingers. Walker is not expected to play Sunday, but he was encouraged by the initial results.

Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Padres' Garrett Cooper: Blasts three-run homer
Cooper went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Giants.
The Padres led from the first inning on, with Cooper's blast in the sixth solidifying their advantage. The first baseman started off a bit slow with San Diego, but he's gone 14-for-41 (.341) with a homer and seven RBI over his last 11 contests. He's picked up playing time since Jake Cronenworth (wrist) went on the injured list. Cooper is a lock to be in the lineup versus southpaws, but he's also gained a starting role against right-handers over the last week.

Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Exits with hand discomfort
Walker was lifted from Saturday's game versus the Orioles after the fourth inning due to right hand discomfort.
Walker was hit by a Kyle Bradish pitch in the third inning and initially stayed in before the pain apparently became too much. He is likely set to undergo X-rays. Walker lined out in his other plate appearance Saturday.

Elehuris Montero 1B | COL
Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Gets back into lineup
Montero went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored Friday against the Blue Jays.
Montero had been the odd man out in the competition with Hunter Goodman for playing time at first base, sitting out the prior five games. However, he got the start Friday and delivered a two-run homer in the third inning. Montero has displayed an all-or-nothing skillset, as he has three homers in his last 13 games but has struck out at a 32.6 percent clip as well.

Wilmer Flores 1B | SF
Giants' Wilmer Flores: Hits 20-homer mark for first time
Flores went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Padres.
The homer was Flores' 20th of the year, setting a new career high for the 32-year-old infielder. It also opened the scoring, but the Padres quickly took control of the game in their half of the first inning. Flores has swatted five homers over his last 15 games while batting .246 (14-for-57) in that span. Overall, he's maintained a .291/.352/.533 slash line with 50 RBI, 46 runs scored and 20 doubles through 102 games as one of the steadiest bats in the San Francisco lineup.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Goes yard Friday
Walker went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 4-2 win over the Orioles.
Walker lifted a sixth-inning blast to provide Arizona's final runs of the game. He'd ended August in a 10-for-46 (.217) slump over 13 games, with just one extra-base hit (a triple) in that span. The first baseman is up to 29 homers, 89 RBI, 70 runs scored, eight stolen bases and a .271/.347/.524 slash line through 131 contests on the season.

Joey Votto 1B | TOR
Reds' Joey Votto: No baseball activities yet
Votto (shoulder) remains shut down from baseball activities, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
It was reported last week that Votto should be ready to return from his left shoulder soreness by early September, but clearly that's not happening. Expect the Reds to use Christian Encarnacion-Strand at first base and Jake Fraley at designated hitter against righties until Votto is ready.
