  • Tim Elko 1B | CHW

White Sox's Tim Elko: Receiving first day off

Elko is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.

After getting his first big-league call-up Saturday, Elko had started at first base or designated hitter in each of the White Sox's ensuing four games, going 2-for-14 with a home run and three RBI. The White Sox will likely continue to carve out at least a semi-regular role for Elko in the short term, though he'll still be subject to occasional days off versus right-handed pitching.

  • Ty France 1B | TOR

Twins' Ty France: Idle for Thursday's game

France (foot) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.

On Wednesday, France exited in the fifth inning of the Twins' 6-3 win in the first game of a doubleheader due to a left foot contusion, then was withheld from action in the 8-6 win over the Orioles later on that day. The Twins are continuing to view France as day-to-day, but he'll miss out on a second straight start as the team wraps up its series in Baltimore. Kody Clemens will fill in for France at first base.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

Rangers' Jake Burger: Knocks in two in win

Burger went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and two RBI in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Rockies.

Burger has hit safely in all three games since his return from the minors. The three-game run pushed his average to a season-high .202.

  • Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Blasts 10th homer

Soderstrom went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 9-3 loss to the Dodgers.

The 23-year-old put the A's on the board and tied the game with a two-run homer during the third inning, with the long ball ending a 23-game homerless stretch. Soderstrom has cooled off from his hot start to the campaign but still has a .285/.343/.515 slash line with 10 home runs, two steals, 29 RBI and 27 runs through 43 contests in 2025.

  • Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Homers off bench

Goldschmidt went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesdays' 3-2 win over the Mariners.

Goldschmidt was out of the starting lineup, but he delivered the game-tying run with his seventh-inning solo shot as a pinch hitter. The first baseman is 9-for-24 (.375) over his last six games, adding two homers and five RBI in that span. For the season, he continues to offer steady offense with a .346 average, .901 OPS, five homers, 22 RBI, 27 runs scored and three stolen bases across 177 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Rare day off Wednesday

Torkelson is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Torkelson clubbed his 11th home run in Tuesday's extra-innings victory over the Red Sox, but he will receive just his second day off of the season in Wednesday's series finale. Colt Keith is playing first base for the Tigers and Kerry Carpenter will be the club's designated hitter.

  • Nick Sogard SS | BOS

Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Gaining traction at first base

Sogard will start at first base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Sogard will draw his fourth start in five games and looks to have settled in as Boston's preferred option at first base in the wake of Triston Casas (knee) being lost for the season and Romy Gonzalez (back) recently going on the IL. Unless the Red Sox look for help outside the organization or if Rafael Devers reverses his stance and agrees to take some reps at first base, Sogard could be in store for a regular role so long as he performs well enough at the plate to warrant the playing time.

  • Xavier Isaac 1B | TB

Rays' Xavier Isaac: Missing in action

Isaac has not played for Double-A Montgomery since May 4 due to an undisclosed injury.

Isaac dealt with an elbow issue in spring training and spent 11 days on the injured list in early April with the injury, so this latest absence could be related. Isaac is slashing .235/.435/.559 with two home runs and one stolen base in 11 games this year. He has a 32.6 percent strikeout rate after logging a 40.6 percent strikeout rate in 31 games at Double-A to close 2024.

  • Ty France 1B | TOR

Twins' Ty France: Exits game with foot contusion

France was removed during the fifth inning of the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader in Baltimore with a left foot contusion, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. He went 0-for-3 at the plate prior to his departure.

France grounded out in the top of the fifth inning before being replaced on defense prior to the bottom of the frame. The Twins could have more information on France's status in between games, but France will likely sit out the second leg of the twin bill, at the very least.

  • Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Getting day off Wednesday

Goldschmidt is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Seattle.

It's a rare day off for Goldschmidt, who had started each of the previous six contests. The Yankees are going with Ben Rice at first base and Aaron Judge at designated hitter in the series finale.
