Lowe will sit Tuesday against the Angels.

Lowe has disappointed at the plate this season, slashing .233/.287/.292 while homering just once in 32 games. He's actually recorded a career-best 24.0 percent strikeout rate, but that's come with a career-low 3.4 percent barrel rate, as he's pounded far too many balls into the ground. Andy Ibanez moves over to first base for the second time in four games Tuesday.

Mountcastle said Tuesday that his strained left wrist is feeling better, and he anticipates making his return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mountcastle underwent a precautionary MRI on the wrist Monday that revealed nothing concerning, so he's expected to gradually ramp up his baseball activities over the next few days with the hope of returning by the weekend. Whenever Mountcastle makes his return to the lineup, Tyler Nevin and Ryan McKenna should both be in store for downsized roles.

Rizzo went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 6-2 victory against Baltimore.

Rizzo scored the game's first run after reaching on a fielder's choice in the third inning, and he gave New York some extra cushion with a ninth-inning solo shot to left field. The long ball was Rizzo's first since April 29. The veteran got off to a hot start with a .284 average and nine homers over his first 20 games, but he has cooled off with a .146/.241/.271 slash line, one homer and three RBI over 13 contests in May.

Vaughn will sit for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Royals.

Vaughn returned from a hand injury Friday and won't be asked to play twice in one day just four days later. He'll likely return to the lineup for the nightcap.

Santana will sit for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

The Royals will likely rest several of their regulars in one of the day's two games. Ryan O'Hearn will start at first base Tuesday, but Santana should return for the nightcap.

Torkelson will sit Monday against the Rays.

Torkelson has struggled significantly at the plate in recent weeks, going hitless in 11 of his last 13 games. He'll get the day off to clear his head Monday, with Harold Castro starting at first base.

Vaughn went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Sunday against the Yankees.

Vaughn was activated from the injured list Friday after recovering from a hand injury. He was in the lineup both Saturday and Sunday but collected only one hit across eight at-bats with three strikeouts. That's hardly a reason for concern, however as Vaughn has maintained a .262/.338/.508 line with a .373 wOBA across 68 plate appearances this season. He should be line for regular playing time with Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) sidelined.

Gurriel went 3-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Nationals.

Gurriel took Patrick Corbin yard in the sixth inning to record his second home run of the season. After failing to go deep across his first 26 starts, Gurriel has homered twice in his last three games while also recording two doubles. He's hitting .248/.292/.416 across 120 plate appearances on the season, and his recent surge has raised his ISO to .168.

Calhoun went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Red Sox.

Calhoun was dominant during the three-game series against Boston, going 6-for-12 with two homers, a triple, a double, four RBI and three runs. The 34-year-old had a relatively slow start to the season, but he's hitting .220 with three homers, nine RBI and five runs following his success against the Red Sox.

Diaz is not in Sunday's lineup against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

He missed Friday's game with an illness but returned Saturday and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run. Ji-Man Choi and Taylor Walls will man the infield corners.
