  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Drives in three Tuesday

France went 1-for-3 with a two-run double, an RBI groundout and a walk in a loss to the Athletics on Tuesday.

France pushed his RBI total to 31 over 44 games with his productive night, one that also included his 16th extra-base hit. The 27-year-old has now hit safely in three straight and five of the last six overall, pushing his stellar season slash line to .330/.399/.489.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

    Rays' Yandy Diaz: Rejoins lineup

Diaz (shoulder) will start at third base and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

As manager Kevin Cash predicted would be the case, Diaz returns to the lineup Wednesday after a strained left shoulder kept him on the bench for the past two games. With Diaz back in action at third base, Taylor Walls will retreat to the bench for the series finale.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Swats 11th homer

Rizzo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in a 7-6, extra-innings victory versus the Orioles on Tuesday.

Rizzo kicked off the scoring in the contest with a solo shot to right field in the first inning. The long ball was just his second in May after he went deep nine times in April. Rizzo has struggled this month, slashing .189/.307/.351 with 13 runs, five RBI and a stolen base across 21 games.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Notches homer, double in loss

Abreu went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a double in Tuesday's 16-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Abreu ripped a two-run home run off Nick Pivetta in the bottom of the fourth inning before later doubling off the starter in the sixth frame. The homer was his fifth of the year and second in four games. Over his last seven games, Abreu has notched five extra-base hits while batting .346 and driving in seven runs in those contests. The hot stretch has raised his batting average to a still-uninspiring .225 over 151 at-bats in 2022, but the 35-year-old may be set to take off as the calendar closes in on June.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Not starting Tuesday

Diaz (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Tampa Bay will go with Ji-Man Choi and Isaac Paredes as its starters at the corner-infield spots in the series opener while Diaz gets more time off to heal up from his strained left shoulder. Before sitting out Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Orioles with the injury, Diaz had gone 7-for-17 with three runs scored and an RBI over his previous four games. Diaz doesn't look like a candidate to go on the 10-day injured list, as manager Kevin Cash said the 30-year-old is expected to re-enter the lineup Wednesday, according to Topkin.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Goes on Triple-A IL

Triple-A Worcester placed Casas (ankle) on its 7-day injured list Sunday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Casas hasn't played since May 17 due to a sore ankle, and the 22-year-old first-base prospect is without a clear timeline to return to game action. However, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe relays that Casas traveled with Worcester for its road series in Lehigh Valley this week, which suggests he'll be able to take part in some on-field workouts within the next few days. He could be ready to rejoin the lineup this weekend if his ankle responds well to workouts.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Royals' Carlos Santana: Slaps three hits

Santana went 3-for-5 in Monday's 9-5 loss to the Diamondbacks.

All three of Santana's hits were singles. He's now hit safely in four straight games, going 6-for-16 (.375) with a home run, a pair of doubles, four RBI and two runs scored in that span. It's an encouraging burst of offense from the 36-year-old, who has been slumping at the plate for much of the year. He owns a .163/.305/.276 slash line with two homers, 10 RBI, nine runs scored and five doubles through 118 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Exits for defensive purposes

Mountcastle was removed from Monday's game against the Yankees for defensive purposes, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mountcastle returned to the lineup after experiencing cramps Sunday, but his removal from Monday's contest was for defensive purposes as the Orioles sought to protect a two-run lead. Prior to his exit, Mountcastle went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and an RBI.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Moves past cramping issue

Mountcastle (body cramps) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Monday's game against the Yankees, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Even though he exited Sunday's 7-6 win over the Rays early just one day after returning from a stint on the injured list due to a left forearm strain, Mountcastle never looked to be in much danger of being unavailable for the series with the Yankees after his early departure Sunday was attributed to heat-related body cramps. With some extra time to rest up and rehydrate, Mountcastle should be ready to play a full nine-inning game Monday.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Twins' Spencer Steer: Moves to Triple-A

The Twins promoted Steer from Double-A Wichita to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Seth Stohs of TwinsDaily.com reports.

Steer will move up to Triple-A after he produced a .976 OPS in 156 plate appearances for Wichita to begin the 2022 campaign. The OPS represents an increase of more than 200 points from the mark he posted over 280 plate appearances with Wichita in 2021.
