Maxwell is coming off a productive season with the DC Defenders of the UFL in 2026, posting 23 total tackles, including 4.0 sacks, across 10 regular-season games. Now in Atlanta, he's expected to compete for a reserve interior defensive lineman role.

Maxwell (knee) passed a physical and was activated from the active/PUP list Monday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Maxwell missed all of last season due to a knee injury and continued to recover through the beginning of training camp. He appears to be past the knee issue and will now be able to both practice and participate in preseason contests. Maxwell is a long shot to make the Bengals' 53-man roster but could offer organizational depth as a member of the team's practice squad.

Cincinnati placed Maxwell on the active/PUP list Saturday.
After signing with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent prior to last season, Maxwell ended up spending the entire campaign on IR due to a knee injury. He participated in the team's minicamp earlier this summer but appears to still be recovering. Maxwell can be activated off the PUP list at any time this preseason, at which point he can participate in practice and exhibition games.
