  • Kyler Murray QB | ARI

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Limited in practice again

Murray (foot) was a limited practice participant Friday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Thursday that he was preparing Murray to start Monday's game at Dallas, but beat writers saw Jacoby Brissett take most of the first-team reps both Thursday and Friday during the media-access portion of practice. It's possible that changed once practice was closed off to reporters, but all we know for sure is that the Cardinals limited Murray's workload again. He was also a limited practice participant throughout Week 7, getting a 'questionable' designation on the final injury report before being declared inactive on game day. It's unclear at this point if a Week 8 bye allowed Murray to make enough progress for a Week 9 return, and the situation is all the more challenging for fantasy with Arizona playing on Monday.

  • Malik Willis QB | GB

Packers' Malik Willis: Cleared for Week 9

Willis (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against Carolina, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

An ankle injury limited Willis' practice participation over the last two days of Week 9 prep, but the fourth-year pro has been cleared to serve as Jordan Love's backup quarterback Sunday. Willis has not played a snap this season after appearing in seven regular-season games (two starts) for the Packers in 2024.

  • Kirk Cousins QB | ATL

Falcons' Kirk Cousins: Returning to backup role

Cousins will move back to the No. 2 QB role Sunday at New England with Michael Penix (knee) not receiving a designation for that contest

Cousins earned a spot start for Penix this past Sunday against the Dolphins due to the latter's bone bruise in his knee, but the former didn't fare well, completing 21 of 31 passes for 173 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions and rushing twice for two yards in a 34-10 loss. This week, Penix followed up limited practices Wednesday and Thursday with a full session Friday, thereby clearing him to return to action. Cousins likely won't see the field Sunday, barring an injury setback to Penix or a garbage-time appearance.

  • Mac Jones QB | SF

49ers' Mac Jones: Getting another start

Jones will start Sunday's game at the Giants, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Brock Purdy (toe) is listed as questionable, but he'll only be the backup if he's declared active, per 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. Active or not, Purdy seems to be making progress and could return to the starting job as soon as Week 10 against the Rams.

  • Brock Purdy QB | SF

49ers' Brock Purdy: Won't start, deemed questionable

Purdy (toe) won't start Sunday's game against the Giants but is listed as questionable to be available in a backup capacity, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Mac Jones will make another start, with Purdy potentially dressing as the 49ers' emergency No. 3 quarterback Sunday before targeting a return to the lineup Week 10 against the Rams. Purdy's status this Sunday won't affect fantasy decisions, but it'll at least be a good sign for Week 10 if he's considered healthy enough to handle the No. 3 role versus the Giants.

  • Joe Flacco QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Flacco: Questionable after missing practice

Flacco (right shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears after being deemed a non-participant in Friday's practice.

Per Ben Baby of ESPN.com, Flacco, who is dealing with a sprained AC joint in his right throwing shoulder, said Friday that he felt "pretty good" after throwing ahead of Sunday's contest. When discussing the possibility of Flacco starting versus Chicago, coach Zac Taylor noted, "I thought he did a nice job out there. I saw what we would hope to see for a guy to be able to play on Sunday. Now we'll just work through the next few days to see where it ends up." In the event that Flacco isn't ready to get the nod for Cincinnati's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, Jake Browning would be in line to step in for him.

  • Falcons' Michael Penix: Cleared to play Week 9

Penix (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at New England, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

WR Drake London (hip), WR Darnell Mooney (hamstring), TE Kyle Pitts (ankle) and LT Jake Matthews (ankle) also avoided game designations on the final injury report, bringing Atlanta's offense back to near-full strength ahead of a challenging matchup. Kirk Cousins' poor performance in Penix's stead last week likely answers questions about Penix being benched for performance reasons anytime soon.

  • Sean Clifford QB | CIN

Bengals' Sean Clifford: Signs to active roster

The Bengals signed Clifford from the practice squad Friday.

With Joe Flacco (shoulder) questionable to face the Bears on Sunday, Clifford will provide insurance behind Jake Browning. Clifford has yet to attempt an NFL pass during the regular season.

  • Cardinals' Jacoby Brissett: Getting first-team snaps

Brissett took most of the first-team snaps during the media-access portion of practice Friday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

The implication is that Brissett is preparing for a third straight start in place of Kyler Murray (foot), although gamesmanship by coach Jonathan Gannon can't be ruled out at this point. Whatever the case, it's a tough situation for fantasy managers with the Cardinals facing the Cowboys on Monday Night Football this week. Gannon said Thursday that he was preparing Murray to start, while reports from Thursday's practice suggested Murray mostly worked with backups (the same thing was reported Friday).

  • Joe Flacco QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Flacco: Questionable for Sunday

Coach Zac Taylor said Friday that Flacco (right shoulder) will be questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

Taylor noted that Flacco looked good at Thursday's practice, but he added that the Bengals will "see where it goes" in terms of the veteran QB's ability to start versus Chicago. Fortunately for those considering Flacco in Week 9 fantasy lineups, Cincinnati kicks off at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. In the event that Flacco isn't available, the team would turn to Jake Browning, who Flacco supplanted as the team's top signal-caller not long after being acquired in a trade with the Browns on Oct. 7.
