  • Hunter Dobbins SP | STL

Cardinals' Hunter Dobbins: Expected to be called up Wednesday

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that Dobbins is expected to be called up from Triple-A Memphis to start Wednesday's contest against the Angels, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Dobbins will return to the big-league roster after being sent down July 8. The right-hander has posted a 4.03 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 22.1 innings in five appearances (three starts) with the Cardinals so far this season. With Dobbins coming up for a spot start, the other members of the St. Louis rotation will all be pushed back a day in the pitching schedule.

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: Nearing rehab assignment

Kikuchi (shoulder) is expected to throw another live session this weekend, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Kikuchi threw 34 pitches to Wade Meckler and Denzer Guzman on Tuesday, and he said that he felt great afterward. The southpaw has been out since late April while recovering from left shoulder inflammation, and he is expected to start a minor-league rehab assignment after he completes his next live batting practice session.

  • Mitch Keller SP | PIT

Pirates' Mitch Keller: Pitching Game 1 of doubleheader

Keller will start Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Keller will take the ball in Wednesday's matinee after Tuesday's contest was postponed due to inclement weather, causing the Pirates to participate in a third doubleheader since July 11. The right-hander has struggled to a 7.62 ERA and 1.74 WHIP with 31 strikeouts over 39 innings in his last eight starts, surrendering nine home runs over that stretch.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Placed on injured list

The Tigers placed Flaherty on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right flexor strain.

Flaherty's injury may have played a part in his performance during his start Monday, in which he gave up three earned runs in just four innings against the Cubs. He'll now be forced to miss a few turns through the rotation while he recovers, and the Tigers will bring Ty Madden up from Triple-A to add some extra depth to their bullpen.

  • Ty Madden RP | DET

Tigers' Ty Madden: Returns to majors

The Tigers recalled Madden from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

With Jack Flaherty landing on the injured list with right flexor inflammation, Madden will join the Tigers' bullpen to give the team another multi-inning relief option. The 26-year-old righty owns a 4.71 ERA in 42 innings at Toledo but has been far more successful in the majors, posting a 3.15 ERA and 1.05 WHIP alongside a 23:5 K:BB across 20 innings.

  • Bubba Chandler SP | PIT

Pirates' Bubba Chandler: Starting Game 2 of doubleheader

Chandler will start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Chandler was set to start Tuesday before the game ended up being postponed due to poor weather, but he'll now handle Wednesday's nightcap. The right-hander has struggled to a 6.60 ERA and 1.80 WHIP with nine walks and 12 strikeouts over 15 innings in his last three starts.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Yankees' Gerrit Cole: Starting Game 1 of doubleheader

Cole will take the mound in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against Pittsburgh, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Cole recorded his second straight quality start in his last outing, tossing six innings of two-run ball against the Dodgers on Friday. After a pair of disappointing starts in late June, the right-hander has posted a 3.63 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 21 strikeouts over 17.1 innings in his last three turns in the rotation. Cole hasn't turned in a scoreless outing since he recorded back-to-back scoreless starts upon his return from the IL in late May, and Wednesday will be a tough test against a red-hot Pirates offense that has scored five or more runs in five of their last eight contests.

  • Jonatan Clase LF | TOR

Blue Jays' Jonatan Clase: Scratched Tuesday

Clase was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay due to pain in his foot, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The severity of Clase's injury is still unknown, but it will prevent him from taking the field Tuesday. The Blue Jays should provide more information on his status in the near future; meanwhile, Myles Straw will fill in as Toronto's left fielder.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Yankees' Max Fried: Expected to return Wednesday

Fried (elbow) is expected to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list and start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Fried was set to make a second rehab start Wednesday, and he was expected to throw 60 pitches in the outing according to manager Aaron Boone. The southpaw will instead return to a major-league mound for the first time since suffering a left elbow bone bruise in mid-May. Fried has posted an impressive 3.21 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with 50 strikeouts over 61.2 innings in 10 starts this season, so he'll be a welcomed addition to fantasy rotations, though it may take a few outings for him to work up to his regular workload.

  • Jalen Beeks RP | TEX

Rangers' Jalen Beeks: Transferred to 60-day IL

The Rangers transferred Beeks (forearm) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

It was announced July 4 that Beeks would miss the rest of the 2026 season due to requiring season-ending surgery to repair a flexor tendon in his left forearm.
