Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Goes deep again Wednesday
Rotowire
Crow-Armstrong went 1-for-4 with a home run and three total RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Padres.
Crow-Armstrong hasn't really gotten his power stroke going yet, but he has now homered in consecutive games to get to three long balls on the year. Before Tuesday, his only home run of the season came back on April 7. Crow-Armstrong's .241 batting average is similar to last year's .247 mark, but his OPS is down from .768 in 2025 to .669 so far in 2026. Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Inks extension with Chicago
Rotowire
The Cubs and Crow-Armstrong reached an agreement Monday on a six-year, $115 million contract extension, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
Crow-Armstrong is coming off a stellar sophomore season in which he hammered 31 home runs and swiped 35 bags while playing in 157 of 162 games during the regular season. His patience is expected to pay off tremendously after he declined to participate in extension talks ahead of the 2025 season. With his finances now in order, the 23-year-old can focus solely on putting together another terrific campaign as Chicago's everyday center fielder.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Seeking more consistent swing
Rotowire
After fading down the stretch last season, Crow-Armstrong is aiming to make his swing more consistent and compact this year in an effort to find more sustained success at the plate, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Crow-Armstrong was one of the top players in the league before the All-Star break, blasting 25 home runs and posting an .846 OPS. However, he faded some after the break, as he mustered only six long balls and a .634 OPS. Chicago assistant hitting coach John Mallee said he noticed that as the season went on, the talented outfielder developed a longer stride in his swing, which led him to miss more pitches or make weaker contact when he did connect. Crow-Armstrong still had a great season with the 31 long balls and 35 stolen bases, making him one of only seven players in all of baseball to get to 30 in each of those categories. The 23-year-old's combination of power and speed makes him a valuable fantasy asset, and he could take a step forward in 2026 if he tightens up his swing and makes more consistent contact all year.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Back in lineup at DH
Rotowire
Crow-Armstrong (knee) will serve as the Cubs' designated hitter and cleanup batter in Monday's game in Atlanta.
Though fellow All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) will remain on the bench for a fifth straight game, the Chicago lineup will be bolstered by the return of Crow-Armstrong, who will rejoin the starting nine in a non-defensive role after sitting out Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals due to a right knee contusion. The Cubs haven't indicated how soon Crow-Armstrong might be ready to resume patrolling center field, but he could be back in on defense Tuesday if his knee provides no complications when he's at the plate or running the bases during Monday's contest.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Sitting in second straight game
Rotowire
Crow-Armstrong is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
The slumping Crow-Armstrong had already been held out of the lineup for Tuesday's 4-3 win while southpaw Joey Wentz toed the rubber for Atlanta, but the left-handed-hitting outfielder will now remain out of the starting nine against a right-hander (Bryce Elder). Cubs manager Craig Counsell seems to be taking a similar approach with Crow-Armstrong as he did with Kyle Tucker a few weeks ago, when Tucker was benched for three straight games for a mental reset amid a rough stretch at the plate. Tucker has bounced back well since returning to the lineup, and the Cubs are hoping that the brief break allows Crow-Armstrong to return to the All-Star-level production he delivered earlier in the season. Since the start of August, Crow-Armstrong is slashing just .163/.217/.231 with one home run and two stolen bases over a stretch of 30 games.
