  • Mickey Moniak CF | COL

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Out against left-hander

Moniak is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Houston.

The Rockies are facing a lefty for just the second time this season, and the left-handed-hitting Moniak has been out of the lineup for both of those contests. Fellow lefty bat Jake McCarthy will handle left field, and the right-handed-hitting Jordan Beck will patrol right field in the series opener.

  • Blue Jays' Tyler Fitzgerald: Sent to Triple-A

The Blue Jays optioned Fitzgerald to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old was called up by Toronto last week after being acquired from San Francisco but will return to the minors with Lenyn Sosa joining the Blue Jays' active roster. Fitzgerald didn't see the field during his brief time up with the big club.

  • Luke Little RP | CHC

Cubs' Luke Little: Summoned from minors

The Cubs recalled Little from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Little boasts a 2.80 ERA with 44 strikeouts over 35.1 innings at the big-league level, but he's also issued 28 walks. Those control problems remained present in his first five outings with Iowa, as he had a 9:10 K:BB over 7.2 frames. It's unlikely Little will be trusted with high-leverage innings, but the Cubs were in need of fresh bullpen arms.

  • Charlie Barnes SP | LAD

Cubs' Charlie Barnes: Optioned back to Triple-A

The Cubs optioned Barnes to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Barnes made one appearance during his brief stint with the big club, yielding four runs (three earned) over three innings in Monday's loss to the Phillies. The Cubs will replace him with a fresh relief arm.

  • Ethan Roberts RP | CHC

Cubs' Ethan Roberts: Goes on 15-day IL

The Cubs placed Roberts on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with an undisclosed injury.

It's unclear what injury Roberts is dealing with, but it will cost him at least the next couple weeks of action. The right-hander has made three scoreless appearances out of the Cubs' bullpen this season.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Sitting versus southpaw

Schanuel is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The first baseman started the previous six games, including two versus left-handed pitchers, but he'll take a seat against Yankees southpaw Ryan Weathers on Tuesday. Schanuel opened the campaign with a four-game hit streak, but in the 10 games since he's batting .146 (6-for-41) with two doubles, six RBI and one run scored. Vaughn Grissom is shifting to first base Tuesday while Oswald Peraza picks up a start at the keystone.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Added to bullpen

The Rockies recalled Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Gordon has been sharp early on at Albuquerque, posting a 2.76 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over his first 16.1 innings. The righty holds a career 7.06 ERA in 23 starts in the majors, however, and appears pegged for a long-relief role with the Rockies.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Taking seat Tuesday

Bohm is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Bohm's absence from the lineup is his first of the season that's a pure lineup decision, as his previous time on the bench April 7 in San Francisco was due to minor groin tightness. The 29-year-old third baseman launched a three-run home run Opening Day but is batting just .145 (8-for-55) with one extra-base hit in the ensuing 14 contests. Bohm has been dropped from the cleanup spot for the past week, batting sixth, seventh or eighth in his last four starts.

  • Keegan Akin RP | BAL

Orioles' Keegan Akin: Cleared for rehab games

Akin (groin) will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Akin has been shelved all season with a left groin strain but has been cleared to try things out in game action. The lefty suffered the injury late in spring training and doesn't need to rebuild much stamina as a reliever, so Akin could require only a couple rehab appearances if he looks and feels good.

  • Mitch Farris RP | LAA

    Angels' Mitch Farris: Demoted Tuesday

The Angels optioned Farris to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

The left-hander was called up by the Halos last week and had a decent showing in three appearances, allowing just one run with a 3:2 K:BB over 4.1 innings. Farris will return to Salt Lake -- where he opened the season as a starter -- but could rejoin the big club later in the campaign.
