  • Matt Waldron SP | SD

Padres' Matt Waldron: Following opener again

Waldron is slated to serve as the Padres' primary pitcher in Tuesday's game versus the Brewers, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Waldron struck out seven over five innings of one-run ball against the Giants on Wednesday after following opener Bradgley Rodriguez. The Padres will follow that same formula again in Tuesday's series opener. Waldron is not guaranteed any more starts beyond Tuesday's, as Lucas Giolito is expected to be ready to join the rotation soon after knocking off some rust in the minors.

  • Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Reinstated, starting Tuesday

The Orioles activated Rogers (illness) from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

The left-hander will end up spending just one day beyond the 15-day minimum on the injured list after recovering from the flu. After delivering quality starts in each of his first three outings of the campaign, Rogers labored to a 9.53 ERA and 2.12 WHIP in his last three starts before landing on the shelf. The 28-year-old threw a simulated bullpen session Saturday and is rejoining Baltimore's rotation without a rehab assignment, so the club could be cognizant of his workload Tuesday.

  • Conrad Cason SS | BOS

Red Sox's Conrad Cason: Returns to action

Cason (elbow) is hitting .267 with two home runs and a 3:1 K:BB in four games in the Florida Complex League.

The two-way prospect is on his way back from August 2025 Tommy John surgery, and while he isn't ready to pitch in games, he is healthy enough play in complex-league games as the designated hitter. Cason is still just 19 and has significant upside as a hitter and as a right-handed pitcher, but the young shortstop will likely be limited to DH duty for most or all of 2026.

  • Mike Siani CF | LAD

Dodgers' Michael Siani: Removed from 40-man roster

The Dodgers designated Siani for assignment Tuesday, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Alek Thomas, who was acquired via trade Tuesday. Siani has spent all of the 2026 campaign at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he's slashed .225/.355/.303 with no home runs, five steals and a 17:30 BB:K over 29 contests. The 26-year-old is a gifted defensive center fielder, so he could draw interest via waivers in spite of his offensive shortcomings.

  • Ben Brown SP | CHC

Cubs' Ben Brown: Awarded another start

Brown is slated to start Thursday's game against Atlanta at Truist Park.

Brown made his first 12 appearances of the season out of the Chicago bullpen, but he was called upon to start on short notice this past Friday in the wake of Matthew Boyd's (knee) surprise placement on the injured list. Though he wasn't fully stretched out for a starting role and was pitching on three days' rest, Brown delivered a strong outing on the road, holding the Rangers scoreless over four innings while striking out three and permitting no hits and one walk. While the Cubs are still likely to monitor his workload carefully in his second start, Brown should be able to build on the 46 pitches he tossed against Texas and reach the five innings he would need to qualify for a win. Another solid showing in Atlanta would likely help Brown solidify a rotation spot on a longer-term basis while neither Boyd nor Justin Steele (elbow) are close to returning from the IL.

  • Robby Snelling SP | MIA

Marlins' Robby Snelling: Second start coming Thursday

Snelling is slated to start Thursday's game against the Twins at Target Field.

With the Marlins cutting Chris Paddack last week, Snelling appears to be in line for an extended audition in the Miami rotation, despite turning in an uneven MLB debut this past Friday. Snelling took a loss to the Nationals in his first start, covering five innings and striking out two batters while yielding three earned runs on five hits and four walks. On a more encouraging note, Snelling induced 12 swings and misses among his 86 pitches, illustrating the strikeout upside he brings to the table. Prior to receiving his promotion to the big leagues, Snelling generated 44 punchouts over 29 innings at Triple-A Jacksonville this season.

  • Royals' Stephen Kolek: Stepping in for injured Ragans

Kolek is slated to start Tuesday's game against the White Sox in Chicago, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

After returning from the injured list and delivering a quality start against the Guardians in his 2026 MLB debut last Tuesday, Kolek was demoted to Triple-A Omaha a day later. However, with Cole Ragans (elbow) landing on the IL on Friday, the Royals opted to recall Kolek and will now plug him into Ragans' vacated spot in the rotation. Kolek tentatively lines up for a two-start week, with his second turn likely to come Sunday in St. Louis.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Ready to go for next start

McCullers (finger) is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Mariners in Houston, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McCullers appeared to be dealing with a blister on his pitching hand toward the tail end of his most recent start Wednesday against the Dodgers, but the righty was able to complete his most recent bullpen session without issue and will be ready to return to action on six days' rest. Though the historically injury-prone McCullers has thus far been able to avoid any major setbacks on the health front this season, he's seen his effectiveness wane since submitting a seven-inning, nine-strikeout effort in his 2026 debut against the Red Sox back on March 30. Over his ensuing six starts, McCullers has posted a 9.00 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 28:19 K:BB in 27 innings. Barring a turnaround in form, McCullers could be in danger of a demotion to the bullpen or even being designated for assignment once the Houston pitching staff gets some of its injured starters back from the shelf.

  • Dodgers' Alek Thomas: Dealt to Dodgers

The Dodgers acquired Thomas from the Diamondbacks on Tuesday in exchange for Jose Requena, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Thomas had been designated for assignment and is now on the move after an intra-division trade. The 26-year-old is a slick defensive center fielder but has managed just a .230/.273/.361 batting line over nearly 1,500 career plate appearances at the major-league level. Thomas has minor-league options remaining and will likely be assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City initially. He will be under team control through the 2028 season.

  • Owen Carey OF | ATL

Braves' Owen Carey: Missing in action at High-A

High-A Rome placed Carey on the 7-day injured list April 24 with an undisclosed injury.

Carey, who won't turn 20 until July, is one of the youngest hitters at High-A and slashed .267/.340/.444 with one home run, one steal and a 14 percent strikeout rate in 12 games prior to the injury. It was a small sample, but Carey cut his groundball rate from 49.3 percent at Single-A to 36.8 percent at High-A, which was leading to a career-best .178 ISO.
