    Giants' Jose Butto: Out for season

    Butto underwent surgery Saturday to repair an artery in his right arm, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

    Butto previously had a blood clot removed from his arm, and his latest procedure will require 5-to-6 months of rehab, meaning he won't be able to make it back before the end of the season. He'll end 2026 with five earned runs allowed over just two innings.

    Fortes is not in the Rays' starting lineup against the Pirates on Saturday.

    Fortes will be on the bench for the beginning of Saturday's game while Hunter Feduccia starts behind home plate and bats eighth while catching for Drew Rasmussen. Fortes has gone 4-for-11 (.364) with one RBI and one run scored over his last three starts and is slashing .321/.345/.453 over 55 plate appearances this season.

    Astros' Dustin Harris: Scooped up by Houston

    The Astros claimed Harris off waivers from the White Sox on Saturday.

    Harris was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Wednesday, but he'll now be a part of the Astros organization after being claimed Saturday. The veteran outfielder has no minor-league options remaining, so he'll be added to the Astros' 26-man active roster and could join the club as soon as Sunday. Prior to being DFA'd, Harris appeared in six games for the White Sox, going 3-for-12 with two steals, one RBI and two runs scored.

    Astros' J.P. France: Cut from 40-man roster

    The Astros designated France for assignment Saturday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

    The move makes room on the Astros' 40-man roster for outfielder Dustin Harris, who was claimed off waivers from the White Sox in a corresponding move. France struggled out of the bullpen across three outings with Houston, allowing six runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four in 6.2 innings.

    Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Returning Sunday

    Manager Clayton McCullough said Saturday that Stowers (hamstring) will return from the injured list Sunday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

    After playing five rehab games at Triple-A Jacksonville, Stowers returned to Miami on Saturday to be evaluated by the team. Now that he's been given a clean bill of health, the 28-year-old will officially make his season debut in Sunday's series finale against Milwaukee. He will reclaim his place as Miami's primary left fielder, though the Marlins also plan to give him a few reps at first base.

  • White Sox's Luisangel Acuna: Not in Saturday's lineup

    Acuna is not in the White Sox's starting lineup against the Athletics on Saturday.

    Acuna was productive in Friday's series opener, going 2-for-4 with a a steal, a double, an RBI and two runs scored in a 9-2 win. He'll be on the bench for the start of Saturday's game while the White Sox roll with Sam Antonacci, Tristan Peters and Everson Pereira in the outfield from left to right.

    Quero is not in the White Sox's starting lineup against the Athletics on Saturday.

    Quero will get a breather after going 3-for-8 with two RBI over his last two starts. Reese McGuire will start behind home plate and bat ninth while catching for Erick Fedde.

    Red Sox's Justin Slaten: Progresses to playing catch

    Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters that Slaten (oblique) played catch Friday and Saturday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

    Slaten landed on the 15-day injured list April 8 due to a right oblique strain. He's progressed enough in his recovery to start playing catch and will likely need some turns on a rehab assignment before being cleared to return to major-league action. Slaten appeared in four regular-season games prior to his IL stint, recording two holds while allowing one unearned run on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts over 3.1 innings.

    Marlins' Graham Pauley: Sitting out Saturday

    Pauley (oblique) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

    Oblique discomfort forced Pauley to make an early exit Friday and will officially keep him out of Saturday's contest as well. However, he said he was feeling better before the game and has taken swings, per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, so he may be able to avoid a trip to the injured list. In the meantime, Javier Sanoja will start at the hot corner for Miami.

  • Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Not starting Saturday

    Clarke is not in the Athletics' starting lineup against the White Sox on Saturday.

    Clarke is out of the A's starting lineup for the second time in three games as the team deploys Tyler Soderstrom, Lawrence Butler and Carlos Cortes in the outfield from left to right against Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello. In his last 15 games, Clarke has gone 7-for-38 (.184) with one steal, five RBI and a 2:15 K:BB.
