Masataka Yoshida DH | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Enters mid-game Monday
Yoshida entered Monday's 5-4 win over the Tigers to play left field after Roman Anthony (wrist) was removed from the game. Yoshida went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Where former manager Alex Cora tried to weave Yoshida into starting lineups more consistently, interim manager Chad Tracy sees him more as a weapon off the bench -- the outfielder is 2-for-5 with two walks as a pinch hitter. He's started just once in the eight games since Boston's managerial change; however, with Anthony heading back to Boston for more testing, Yoshida could slip into the starting lineup Tuesday and/or Wednesday in left field or as the designated hitter. In limited run in 2026, Yoshida is slashing .296/.415/.370 with 10 walks, four doubles, five RBI and six runs scored over 65 plate appearances.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Braves' Martin Perez: Could be needed to start
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said that Perez wasn't available out of the bullpen for Monday's 5-4 loss to Seattle because the left-hander might be needed to start one of the final two games of the series in Seattle, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Atlanta has already confirmed Bryce Elder and Grant Holmes as its starters for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, but Weiss's comments may indicate that one of the two is not necessarily locked into taking the hill that day. Though he had been expected to shift to the bullpen when Atlanta brought back Spencer Strider from the injured list over the weekend, Perez looks like he could still be a factor in the rotation. Whether he makes his next appearance as a starter or a reliever, Perez will be fresh after having not pitched since last Tuesday, when he tossed five scoreless innings against Detroit to bring his season ERA down to 2.22.

Chris Paddack RP | TEX
Marlins' Chris Paddack: DFA'd by Marlins
The Marlins designated Paddack for assignment Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Paddack was tagged for seven runs over 2.2 innings in his last start versus the Phillies, pushing his season ERA up to 7.63. His velocity was down across the board in that outing, prompting evaluations of his health. While it seems there isn't anything physically wrong with Paddack, the Marlins have nonetheless decided to move on from the righty. Braxton Garrett is the likeliest candidate to fill Paddack's rotation spot, though Robby Snelling should also receive consideration.

Samuel Aldegheri SP | LAA
Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Drawing start Tuesday
Aldegheri will start Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Aldegheri was just recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday, and he will grab the rotation spot vacated by the injured Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder). The left-handed Aldegheri made one relief appearance for the Halos earlier this season, yielding one run while striking out two over 1.2 innings. He holds a 7.77 ERA and 23:13 K:BB over 24.1 frames with Salt Lake this season.

Paul DeJong SS | DET
Tigers' Paul DeJong: Latches on with Tigers
The Tigers signed DeJong to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
DeJong opted out of his minor-league deal with the Yankees last week after slashing .203/.361/.516 with six home runs and a 16:18 BB:K in 23 games at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With Javier Baez (ankle) on the injured list and Gleyber Torres (side) also banged up, DeJong could get a look with the big club sooner rather than later.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Red Sox's Sonny Gray: Completes side session Monday
Gray (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Monday that went well, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Gray's right hamstring has responded well to multiple throwing sessions over the past week, which likely sets the right-hander up to return from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's series finale in Detroit. Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy plans to meet with Gray and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow before confirming Wednesday's scheduled starter. If the Red Sox elect to wait a little bit longer before activating Gray, Jake Bennett would likely be the top alternative to start Wednesday.

Justin Slaten RP | BOS
Red Sox's Justin Slaten: Begins rehab stint
Slaten (oblique) allowed one hit and struck out two over a scoreless inning for Double-A Portland on Sunday.
Slaten opened the rehab assignment by serving as a game opener for the Sea Dogs. The right-hander's next outing will be Tuesday or Wednesday at Triple-A Worcester, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com. It's uncertain if Slaten will require more rehab outings beyond what's coming up in the next two days. He last pitched for Boston on April 4.

David Fry LF | CLE
Guardians' David Fry: Provides early, only offense
Fry served as the designated hitter and went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Royals.
Fry put Cleveland on the board early with a two-run homer in the second inning, but that's all the team could do against Kansas City pitching. It was Fry's third time going deep in his last six games. He doesn't get nearly the number of opportunities as others on the team, but Fry is second on the Guardians with an .892 OPS over 51 plate appearances.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Reds' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Goes yard in loss
Hayes went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs.
Hayes caught hold of a sinker that didn't sink and upped Cincinnati's lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning with a two-run shot. It was his second home run of the season and just his second and third RBI over 31 games. If the Reds are getting production from other areas of the lineup, they can live with the Gold Glove-winning third baseman batting .126 and providing minimal punch from the bottom of the order.

J.J. Bleday LF | CIN
Reds' JJ Bleday: Homers again
Bleday went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs.
Bleday gave the Reds early lead with a solo blast in the third inning, his third home run since being called up a little over a week ago. He made a sixth consecutive start and third straight as the No. 2 batter. Bleday is 6-for-20 with four extra-base hits and five runs scored over seven games played.
