Civale allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Wednesday.

All five runs came via the long ball, as Civale gave up three home runs across the first two innings. He was able to settle in after that, and the Athletics ultimately got him off the hook with an extra-inning win. While he hasn't exactly dominated in most starts, Civale has limited damage well -- this was just the third time in 10 starts he's given up three or more runs. He's at a 3.31 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 37:16 K:BB through 51.2 innings this season. Opposing hitters have a .797 OPS against Civale this year, which likely isn't sustainable if he's going to maintain his current level of run prevention. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at home versus the Mariners.

Yesavage (2-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Yankees, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out eight.

Yesavage outdueled Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler, who pitched six innings of two-run ball Wednesday. Yesavage, on the other hand, fanned a season-high eight, also turning in his third scoreless start of the year. The 22-year-old righty has yet to surrender more than two runs in any of his first five starts this season, and he's recorded at least six punchouts in four consecutive outings. Yesavage will carry an excellent 1.07 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB over 25.1 innings into his next scheduled appearance against the Marlins.

Schlittler (6-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out seven.

Schlittler has generally been hard to hit in 2026, but he gave up a season-worst eight knocks Wednesday. The 25-year-old right-hander yielded multiple earned runs for the first time since his April 12 start in Tampa Bay and has delivered six quality starts in his past seven outings. Schlittler will take an outstanding 1.50 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 75:13 K:BB over 66 innings into his next scheduled appearance against the Royals.

Laureano went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Dodgers.

Laureano had gone 0-for-7 over his previous three games and is batting just .137 (7-for-51) with two extra-base hits, two steals and a 7:21 BB:K over 18 contests in May. The outfielder's slump has him down to a .215 average and .659 OPS while adding five home runs, five steals, 19 RBI, 20 runs scored, five doubles and two triples across 46 games this season. He is still seeing the majority of the starts in left field, though he may get more off days mixed in if he doesn't turn things around.

Vasquez (5-2) allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while failing to strike out a batter over 4.1 innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Dodgers.

Vasquez was ambushed on the first pitch of the game, which opposing pitcher Shohei Ohtani took deep. That would end up being the difference on a day the Padres failed to score, though Vasquez wasn't all that sharp in throwing 44 of 74 pitches for strikes in this outing. It's just the second time all year he's fallen short of the five-inning mark, and it's the fourth time he's given up three or more runs. He has a 2.96 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 45:16 K:BB through 54.2 innings over 10 starts this season. Vasquez will look to bounce back early next week in a projected home start versus the Phillies.

Hernandez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a second RBI and a walk in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Padres.

Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning and added a solo shot in the ninth. He has gone 15-for-41 (.366) over his last 12 contests, adding two homers and eight RBI in that span. For the season, the veteran outfielder is hitting .265 with a .765 OPS, six homers, 25 RBI, 25 runs scored, eight doubles and a stolen base over 45 games. He's hit eighth in the order over the last three games, but he's starting to get more productive and could move up in the next lineup shuffle.

Ohtani (4-2) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out four over five shutout innings to earn the win over the Padres on Wednesday. He also went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored on offense.

Ohtani gave himself all the run support he needed by homering off Randy Vasquez's first pitch of the game. On the mound, it wasn't Ohtani's best work, but it was still excellent. He threw 53 of 88 pitches for strikes, though he had to navigate some tricky at-bats that ran the pitch count up early. This was his fourth scoreless outing in eight starts as a pitcher. He's worked to a 0.73 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 54:13 K:BB through 49 innings this season. At the plate, Ohtani has hit safely in seven straight games, going 13-for-27 (.481) with seven extra-base hits and 10 RBI in that span, which suggests he's worked his way out of his slump from earlier in May. He's up to a .272/.399/.486 slash line, eight homers, 26 RBI, 33 runs scored, six stolen bases, 11 doubles and a triple over 214 plate appearances.

McGreevy (3-3) allowed three runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out one over five-plus innings to take the loss versus the Pirates on Wednesday.

After giving up two runs through five frames, McGreevy returned for the sixth and promptly loaded the bases, with one run coming around to score after his exit. The performance ended a run of four straight starts with one or zero runs allowed. The 10 hits were a season high, while the one strikeout established a new low mark for the year. Overall, it's likely just a bump in the road for a pitcher who has managed mostly positive performances so far, though he has gotten by with a lot of luck thanks to a .230 BABIP. He's added a 2.40 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB through 56.1 innings over 10 starts.

Griffin went 4-for-5 with three runs scored in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Cardinals.

All four hits were singles, and the Pirates' strong showing from the bottom of the order helped Griffin score multiple runs in a game for just the third time. This was his second four-hit effort of the month, and he's batting .343 (23-for-67) with seven extra-base hits and three stolen bases over 17 contests in May. Overall, the rookie shortstop is hitting .278 with a .738 OPS, three home runs, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples and 10 stolen bases through his first 43 MLB games.

Horwitz went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Cardinals.

Horwitz ended a 15-game homer drought when he went deep in the second inning. While he didn't find much power during that stretch, he batted .313 with 11 RBI and a 9:7 BB:K. Horwitz is now batting .276 with an .814 OPS, four long balls, 21 RBI, 16 runs scored, one stolen base, seven doubles and a triple through 44 contests this season. He continues to handle a strong-side platoon role at first base.
