The Rockies transferred Herrera (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

Herrera landed on the 15-day IL on Saturday due to left elbow inflammation, but his move to the 60-day IL just two days later suggests that his injury is more severe that the Rockies initially anticipated. With Herrera set to remain on the shelf through at least late July, the Rockies were able to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander TJ Shook, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Simpson was removed from Monday's game against Detroit due to a cut on his mouth, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. He went 1-for-2 with a single prior to leaving the game.

Simpson was advancing to second base when his helmet fell off and struck his mouth, causing the laceration and left him bloodied. Ryan Vilade replaced Simpson in left field and in the fifth spot of the lineup.

The Rockies optioned Agnos to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

The move makes room on the 26-man roster for TJ Shook, who had his contract selected by the Rockies. Agnos has struggled on the mound as of late, having given up 14 earned runs over his last two outings spanning three frames. That has ballooned his numbers to a 7.78 ERA and 1.57 WHIP across 37 innings this season. Agnos will work on his command issues in the minors and could return to the big club should the Rockies need more right-handed depth out of the bullpen.

The Rockies selected Shook's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

Shook has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A, where he has a 2.86 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, seven saves and a 29:8 K:BB across 28.1 innings. He'll operate out of the Rockies' bullpen, and his first call to the mound will be his major-league debut. In corresponding moves, Zach Agnos was optioned to Albuquerque and Welinton Herrera (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Monday that Ohtani will serve as the designated hitter when he starts on the mound Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

There have been some starts this season in which Ohtani has focused solely on pitching while taking a break from the batter's box, but that won't be the case Wednesday against Arizona. Ohtani has earned the win in each of his last three outings and came away with the quality start in this past Wednesday's appearance against the Rockies. At the dish, he has reached base safely in each of his last 16 games, going 24-for-61 (.393) with one steal, four home runs and 15 RBI in that span.

Rojas (elbow) could begin throwing as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday, reports Dan Hayes of The Athletic.

After landing on the 15-day IL on Friday with an elbow injury, Rojas is already starting to feel better. If he is cleared by Twins doctors, the 23-year-old can begin throwing again as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday. In 14.1 innings, Rojas recorded a 1.26 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 14:10 K:BB.

Walls (undisclosed) was removed from Monday's game against the Tigers in the third inning, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls missed time last week due to a left hamstring injury, but it's unclear whether his removal from Monday's game is related to that same issue. Oliver Dunn will operate at shortstop in place of Walls for the rest of the contest. The Rays should provide an update on Walls during or shortly after the game.

Ober (elbow) has a mild flexor strain and will be shut down from throwing for 10-to-14 days, reports Dan Hayes of The Athletic.

Ober will not throw for around two weeks after exiting Saturday's start against Pittsburgh with what is now determined as a mild flexor strain. Minnesota is slightly optimistic about the injury due to his UCL still being intact, though he'll still be sidelined for the foreseeable future given the shutdown. Through 12 starts this season, Ober has recorded a 6-3 record with a 4.59 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 46:18 K:BB.

Meckler is out of the lineup for the series opener against Colorado, reports Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com

Meckler will ride the bench for the second consecutive game after starting the previous five games. Jose Siri will once again replace Meckler in left field and bat seventh in the order.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Monday that Mena underwent surgery on his right shoulder and will be sidelined for the rest of the season, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

Mena sustained a teres major strain in his right shoulder in June of 2025, which caused him to miss the rest of that season. He opened 2026 on the 60-day IL and was cleared to resume his throwing program in mid-May. However, it appears Mena suffered another setback in his recovery, and his shoulder injury is severe enough for him to undergo a season-ending procedure. The hope for the Diamondbacks is that the surgery will have the 23-year-old fully healthy for the start of spring training in February.
