Freeman isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Freeman is currently enjoying a seven-game hitting streak that's seen him go 10-for-25 (.400) with six runs scored, but the Rockies will keep him on the bench to begin Tuesday's game. His absence will open up a spot in the lineup for Edouard Julien, who will start at first base and bat ninth.

Rumfield (shoulder) will serve as the designated hitter and bat third Tuesday against the Angels.

Rumfield was pulled early from Sunday's contest with shoulder inflammation and missed out on the starting nine Monday, but he later entered the game as a pinch hitter. He'll now return to the lineup and look to turn things around after going just 3-for-15 across his last seven games.

Hence returned to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Hence was sent out to the Cardinals' complex in Florida in late April to work on his mechanics after allowing eight earned runs in just 8.1 innings to begin the year at Triple-A. Although he never played a game in the FCL, the Cardinals are seemingly pleased with his progress and he will now rejoin the Redbirds. The 23-year-old righty owns a 40-man roster spot, so if he bounces back nicely at Memphis, he could be called up for his MLB debut at some point this season.

Bachman has been unavailable for the past few days due to an illness, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Bachman's last appearance came Saturday against the Rays, though he has reportedly been feeling under the weather since Friday. It's unknown whether he's trending toward a stint on the IL, but he will likely remain sidelined for at least another day or two while he recovers.

Tong is expected to serve as a bulk reliever in Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Tong was lined up to start Tuesday's contest, but the Mets will instead send Huascar Brazoban to the mound in the first inning. He and Tong both found success while working in tandem against the Reds last Wednesday, so the team will keep them paired up against Seattle.

Brazoban will serve as the Mets' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Brazoban gave up a hit and a walk while striking out two batters in a scoreless inning when he opened for Jonah Tong last Wednesday, and the two will work in tandem again Tuesday. Brazoban's scoreless-inning streak came to an end Friday, yet he still owns an impressive 1.86 ERA and 0.97 WHIP through 29 innings this year.

The Tigers announced Tuesday that Sweeney (shoulder) is dealing with a rotator cuff issue and has been shut down from baseball activities to be evaluated further, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Sweeney has been on the shelf all season due to a shoulder strain he sustained at the start of spring training, and the rotator cuff issue will extend his absence. It's not clear how much longer the 25-year-old will be sidelined, but he seems unlikely to rejoin the Tigers anytime soon.

Murphy had the cast on his left hand removed Tuesday and is now wearing a splint to protect his fractured middle finger, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reprots.

The veteran backstop sustained the injury in mid-May and was given an initial recovery timeline of at least eight weeks. Shedding the cast is good progress, but Murphy is still several weeks away from restarting baseball activities, per manager Walt Weiss. Sandy Leon and Chadwick Tromp are currently handling the catching duties for Atlanta since Drake Baldwin (oblique) is also on the shelf.

Scherzer (forearm/ankle/thumb) expects to make his next rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

The veteran right-hander made his first rehab outing with Buffalo on Sunday and threw 41 pitches across three scoreless innings. Scherzer hopes to build up to around 60 pitches in his next start, which could be his final rehab outing before being cleared to rejoin Toronto's rotation.

Naylor (back) is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Mets.

Naylor is dealing with back spasms that caused him to leave Monday's series opener versus the Mets in the eighth inning. As he sits Tuesday, Patrick Wisdom will start at first base and bat seventh.
