Vargas (thigh) entered Friday's game in the eighth inning to play second base. He did not get a plate appearance in a 14-1 loss to the Nationals.

Vargas was injured in a scary collision with Los Angeles' Max Muncy on Thursday but appears to have avoided a serious injury. That he was able to play the field for a couple of innings is an encouraging sign that Vargas can resume his role sharing first base and DH with occasional work at other infield spots.

Castillo is slated to start Sunday's game against the Tigers, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Castillo and Bryce Miller worked in tandem in each of the previous three turns through the rotation, but both pitchers will receive standalone starts during the final two games of the series in Detroit. Though he currently maintains an ugly 5.53 ERA and 1.45 WHIP on the season, Castillo took some steps forward over his last two outings, covering nine innings between a start and relief appearance behind Miller while striking out nine batters and yielding two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks. Mariners manager Dan Wilson hasn't outlined his plans for the rotation beyond this weekend, so Castillo could need another positive showing in Detroit to avoid falling back into a piggyback arrangement with Miller or shifting into a full-time bullpen role.

Perez (4-3) earned the win Friday against the Pirates after allowing three runs on three hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out five.

Perez has pitched at least five innings in each of his last four starts, posting a 4.35 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with a 19:9 K:BB across 20.2 innings in that stretch. While he hasn't turned heads with his performance, at least he's limiting the damage and receiving enough support from the offense to get the job done. His next start should come against the White Sox on the road.

Miller is slated to start Saturday's game against the Tigers, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Miller and Luis Castillo worked in tandem in each of the previous three turns through the rotation, but both pitchers will receive standalone starts during the final two games of the series in Detroit. While making three starts and pitching once in relief since being reinstated from the injured list May 13, Miller has been excellent, producing a 1.71 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB in 21 innings. He hasn't tossed more than 83 pitches or 5.2 innings in any of those outings, but Miller could have a longer leash Saturday since Castillo won't be piggybacking him.

Keller (5-3) was tagged with the loss Friday against Atlanta, allowing six runs on seven hits and three walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out four and also hit a batter.

Keller enjoyed an excellent start to the season, and while some regression was expected, he's been hit hard of late. He's given up four or more runs in four of his last five appearances, a stretch in which he's gone 1-2 while posting an 8.31 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with a 20:9 K:BB across 26 innings. Keller has now fallen short of five innings in his last two appearances. Keller won't have an easier outing next time around since he's scheduled to face the Dodgers at home next week.

Drohan is slated to start Sunday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Drohan will be making his second straight turn through the rotation after most recently striking out five batters while yielding two earned runs on four hits and two walks across four innings in a start Monday against the Giants. Since he had previously been working out of the bullpen, Drohan was lifted after tossing 68 pitches in Monday's start, but he should have a little bit longer leash Sunday.

Iglesias notched a save in Friday's win over the Pirates. He tossed a scoreless ninth inning while allowing a hit and a walk, striking out one.

Iglesias has been one of the best closers in the majors this season and has gone 12-for-12 in save chances thus far. This time, he needed 19 pitches (12 strikes) to get the job done while holding a three-run lead, though he did allow two hitters to get on base. Iglesias has given up just two runs all season long, posting a 0.92 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across 19.2 innings in 19 outings in 2026.

Latz notched his ninth save of the season in Friday's win over the Guardians. He tossed two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three.

Latz entered the game in the eighth inning and recorded the final six outs while throwing 21 of his 35 pitches for strikes. He has a tight grip on the closer role and has recorded a save in each of his last four trips to the mound, a span in which he's posted an 8:1 K:BB across 5.1 innings. On the season, Latz has gone 9-for-11 in save chances.

Gough (elbow) has struck out eight batters and allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk across 8.1 innings in his two starts since being reinstated from Single-A Ontario's 7-day injured list May 28.

Acquired from the Mariners in November, Gough didn't make his Dodgers organizational debut until mid-May while he completed his recovery from September 2024 Tommy John surgery. After making two rehab starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Gough received the green light to join Ontario. The 22-year-old has delivered an impressive pair of starts for Ontario thus far and could get a promotion to High-A Great Lakes before long.

Neto went 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and two stolen bases in Friday's 1-0 loss to the Dodgers.

Neto missed the previous three games while dealing with whiplash. The shortstop was able to make an impact on the basepaths in a game that lacked offense on both sides. Neto is 12-for-37 (.324) over his last 11 contests, but he's batting just .232 with a .768 OPS on the year. He's added 10 home runs, 10 steals, 27 RBI, 42 runs scored, 14 doubles and a triple through 61 games overall.
