Alonso went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Mariners.

Alonso broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning with a 402-foot shot off George Kirby, his 14th homer this season. After a slow start to the year, Alonso has picked things up over the past month, batting .299 with six homers and 19 RBI in his last 22 games. Overall, he's slashing .242/.321/.447 with 41 runs scored and 42 RBI through 299 plate appearances this year.

Peterson took a no-decision Wednesday against the Cardinals, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out one.

After Austin Warren got tagged for two runs in the first inning as the opener, Peterson was able to deliver a scoreless second as the bulk reliever before the wheels came off. The one strikeout matched his season-low output, and the 30-year-old southpaw also gave up at least four runs for the sixth time in 14 appearances (seven starts) this year. Peterson, who has a rough 5.75 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 57:26 K:BB over 61 innings, is tentatively scheduled to take the mound in Cincinnati his next time out, whether behind an opener again or in a traditional start.

Garcia was removed from Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a pulled muscle near his right shoulder, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The 33-year-old outfielder injured himself while attempting to cut down George Springer at the plate in the seventh inning. The Phillies' medical staff is still evaluating Garcia to determine the severity of his injury, and an update on his status could be available after the game.

Pederson was removed from Wednesday's game against the Royals with left hip discomfort, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Pederson went 0-for-1 with a walk before leaving Wednesday's contest in the fifth inning. It remains unknown whether his hip will cause him to miss additional games, but the Rangers may provide more information after the game.

Young (5-1) earned the win Wednesday over the Mariners, allowing two hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out five.

It was another excellent outing for Young, who's now logged four straight quality starts -- he's posted a 2.08 ERA across 30.3 innings in that span. The 27-year-old Young lowered his ERA to 3.04 through 10 starts (56.1 innings) this season with a 1.13 WHIP and 33:14 K: BB. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, tentatively scheduled as a rematch with the Mariners in Seattle next week.

Kirby (5-6) took the loss Wednesday against the Orioles, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out 10.

Kirby was impressive early Wednesday, blanking the Orioles for five innings while setting a season high with 10 strikeouts. However, things came apart in the sixth, as Kirby gave up three runs on three extra-base hits, which proved enough to leave the right-hander with his fourth loss in his last five starts. Still, it was a step in the right direction overall for Kirby, who'd struggled to a 7.29 ERA over his previous four outings. For the season, his ERA now sits at 4.07 with a 1.31 WHIP and 74:21 K:BB across 14 starts (84 innings). Kirby is currently scheduled for a rematch with the Orioles at home in his next outing.

Rodriguez was removed from Wednesday's game against the Dodgers due to left hip discomfort.

Rodriguez went 0-for-3 before his hip forced him to make an early exit in the eighth inning. The severity of his injury is still unclear, but with Joey Bart (foot) and Henry Davis (paternity) both out, Rafael Flores could be in line to start a game or two behind the plate for the Pirates.

Lugo was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rangers after getting hit on the head by a comebacker, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander made it through 3.1 innings of one-run ball Wednesday before a 106.6-mph line drive off the bat of Brandon Nimmo connected with Lugo's forehead in the fourth. He was able to get to his feet relatively quickly but was immediately pulled by the Royals' training staff and will presumably enter concussion protocol. An update on his status may be available after the game.

Rooker won't play in Wednesday's game against the Brewers due to knee soreness, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Manager Mark Kotsay said the team will wait to see how Rooker feels leading up to Friday's game against the Rockies before deciding whether he needs to spend time on the injured list. Carlos Cortes will work as the Athletics' designated hitter Wednesday while Lawrence Butler starts in right field, and that could be the defensive alignment the team uses if Rooker has to miss more time.

Boyd (knee) will no longer return from the injured list to start against the Giants this weekend after reporting shoulder soreness following his latest rehab start Saturday at Triple-A Iowa, Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Boyd threw another bullpen session Tuesday and didn't quite feel right afterward, so the Cubs will slow down the 35-year-old's recovery and delay his return from the injured list. It's unknown exactly how far his setback will push back his return, though a clearer picture could emerge once he begins to ramp up his rehab again. Meanwhile, Javier Assad figures to be a top candidate to start in Boyd's place after pitching 6.1 shutout innings out of the bullpen Sunday.
