Pauley went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.

The 25-year-old played his part in a 10-0 rout, collecting his first extra-base hits of the season. With Christopher Morel (oblique) and Kyle Stowers (hamstring) on the shelf and Griffin Conine (illness) unavailable as well Wednesday, Pauley got the start at first base while Connor Norby was the DH and Javier Sanoja handled the hot corner. As Pauley puts his spring forearm injury further behind him and gets back up to speed, however, he could emerge as the Marlins' preferred option at third base against right-handed pitching. Through five games to begin the season, he's gone 3-for-13 with a run scored, an RBI and a 0:5 BB:K.

Sanoja went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's rout of the White Sox.

Miami's offense didn't need to do much with Sandy Alcantara twirling a shutout, but it broke out for 10 runs anyway, with Sanoja being one of four Marlins with multiple hits. The 23-year-old utility player has seen most of his action at third base in the early going as Connor Norby has been needed elsewhere, and Sanoja's taken advantage of his opportunities by going 7-for-12 (.583) with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored.

Burke will be used in a bulk-relief role for Friday's home opener versus the Blue Jays, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Grant Taylor will serve as an opener for the White Sox before handing things off to Burke. The 26-year-old Burke fared quite well in 2025 when used as a bulk reliever, posting a 2.97 ERA and 38:10 K:BB over 30.1 innings covering six outings. Burke yielded four runs (three earned) with a 5:1 K:BB over four frames in a traditional start versus the Brewers this past weekend.

Taylor will be the White Sox' opening pitcher in Friday's game against the Blue Jays, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Taylor will take the ball first as the White Sox begin their first homestand of the season before handing things off to Sean Burke, who will handle the bulk of the innings. The 23-year-old Taylor has tossed one inning in each of his first two appearances this season but is expected to eventually stretch out to cover multiple frames, as his goal is to reach 100 innings in 2026 before moving into the rotation in 2027.

Rogers gave up two hits in a scoreless inning of relief to record his second hold of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

The veteran sidearmer was the first man out of the bullpen for Toronto after Kevin Gausman had dominated for six scoreless innings, and Rogers kept the shutout going before the team's other relievers stumbled late. Rogers has seen a heavy workload to begin his Blue Jays tenure, appearing in four of the season's first six games and posting a 0.00 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 3:1 K:BB.

Clement went 2-for-4 in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

The 30-year-old has had a quick start to the year, going 8-for-25 (.320) through six games with three doubles, two RBI and one run. Clement is shifting from a super-utility role to being the Blue Jays' everyday starter at second base this season, but so far that adjustment hasn't impacted him at the plate.

Sanchez has been working to get back to the swing he had earlier in his career, rather than the one he was using last season with the Marlins and Astros, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

The 28-year-old initially hit the big leagues in 2020 with a more upright stance, but over the years Sanchez's bat became parallel to the ground and he adopted a bit of a crouch. Blue Jays hitting coach David Popkins has helped him return to more natural, comfortable mechanics at the plate, and the early results have been very positive -- Sanchez has gone 6-for-16 over his first five games with Toronto with a homer, four RBI and a 2:2 BB:K. Sanchez also got his first start of the year against a left-handed pitcher Wednesday as he tries to break out of a strict platoon role. He's never slugged more than 18 homers in a season or posted an OPS over .777 in anything close to a full campaign (he managed an .808 OPS in 64 games for Miami in 2021), but the Jays believe Sanchez has more offense to unlock.

Durbin went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to Houston.

Durbin is one of many Red Sox hitters to have stumbled out of the gate. Following a fifth consecutive hitless performance, Boston's primary third baseman is 0-for-18 with five strikeouts and one walk.

Abreu went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Astros.

Abreu belted his third home run of the season in the eighth inning. While his teammates are struggling, Abreu has stood out as the team's best weapon at the plate. He's hit safely in five of six games, with multiple hits in four of them, and is 10-for-24 (.417) with three doubles, three home runs and six RBI.

Tawa started in left field and went 1-for-3 with a double in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Detroit.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo loaded up the lineup with righties against tough Detroit lefty Tarik Skubal. Alek Thomas was on the bench while Jordan Lawlar (center field) and Tawa were in the outfield. Tawa wears many gloves on the diamond and will toggle between infield and outfield for the Diamondbacks. Wednesday was his second start of the season and first in the outfield. He also served as the DH on Opening Day when Pavin Smith (elbow) was scratched.
