  • Bubba Chandler SP | PIT

Pirates' Bubba Chandler: Posts best MLB outing to date

Chandler allowed one run on two hits and no walks while striking out seven batters over six innings in a no-decision against Washington on Saturday.

Chandler was crushed in his first big-league start last Sunday, but he was given another turn in the rotation and took full advantage of the opportunity. The rookie right-hander didn't allow the Nationals to get a runner on base until the sixth inning, but Pittsburgh didn't score until the eighth, so Chandler had to settle for a no-decision. Nonetheless, this was by most measures his best outing in a Pirates uniform, as he logged a career-best six innings, 18 whiffs and seven punchouts. Chandler almost certainly cemented his place in the rotation for what's left of the season, and he lines up to face the Athletics at home late next week.

  • Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Plates three in win

Hernandez went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 13-7 win over the Giants.

Hernandez had an RBI double in the third inning to get the Dodgers back within a run, and he put them ahead with a two-run double in the fifth inning that sparked a six-run frame. Over his last four games, he's gone 7-for-18 (.389) with five extra-base hits and six RBI. The outfielder looks to be back in a groove after a lackluster July and August. He's slashing .245/.281/.458 on the year while adding 24 home runs, 84 RBI, 59 runs scored, 27 doubles and five stolen bases across 122 contests.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Clobbers homer in win

Ohtani went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a walk and three total runs scored in Saturday's 13-7 win over the Giants.

Ohtani's blast was the start of the Dodgers' turnaround, and it was a big one, going 454 feet to center field. The superstar has four homers over 11 games in September and is up to 49 on the year, putting him on the verge of his second straight 50-homer campaign. Ohtani has added his usual excellence all around with a .282/.395/.612 slash line, 93 RBI, 134 runs scored, 18 stolen bases, 21 doubles and eight triples through 145 games as a batter this season.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Drives in three runs Saturday

Contreras went 2-for-3 with three RBI during the Brewers' 9-8 extra-inning win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Contreras played a key role in the Brewers' comeback victory Saturday, when he smacked a sacrifice fly in the sixth and eighth innings before tying the game at 7-7 in the ninth on an infield single that brought Sal Frelick home. It was Contreras' fourth game this season that he recorded at least three RBI, all of which have come since Aug. 10. He has gone 12-for-37 (.324) with five RBI and seven runs scored since Sept. 1.

  • Abner Uribe RP | MIL

Brewers' Abner Uribe: Earns third win of 2025

Uribe (3-2) came away with the win in Saturday's extra-inning game against the Cardinals, allowing one unearned run on a walk and a hit-by-pitch in one inning. He did not record a strikeout.

Uribe was brought in for the 10th to keep the game tied at 7-7, but he proceeded to load the bases after hitting Victor Scott with a pitch and walking Brendan Donovan. Uribe was able to limit the damage to one run after Ivan Herrera grounded out into a double play to bring home Jordan Walker, and the right-hander was credited with the win after the Brewers scored two runs in the bottom of the frame. Uribe has yielded just four runs (two earned) across his last 23 innings since the All-Star break and sports a 1.82 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 69.1 innings this season. He should continue to operate as Milwaukee's primary closer until Trevor Megill (elbow) can return from the IL.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Lacks best stuff in short start

Kershaw allowed four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two over three innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Saturday.

Kershaw gave up all four runs in the first inning and was shaky in the second before a sharp third. He was pulled at 67 pitches (39 strikes), though low pitch counts haven't been unusual for the veteran lefty this year. He's now at a 3.53 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 71:30 K:BB through 102 innings across 20 starts this season. Kershaw will aim to get back on track at home in a rematch with the Giants next week.

  • Giants' Jerar Encarnacion: Two RBI in return

Encarnacion went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 13-7 loss to the Dodgers.

Encarnacion returned to action Saturday after he missed more than a month due to a Grade 2 hamstring strain. He previously missed nearly two months due to an oblique injury, but it's a positive that he was able to be involved in run production in his return to big-league action. He's batting .176 with two home runs, four RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base over 11 games in the majors this season.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Hit hard in loss

Webb (14-10) allowed six runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out five over four-plus innings to take the loss versus the Dodgers on Saturday.

Webb matched his shortest start and highest number of runs allowed this season in this poor outing, ending a stretch of five games without a loss. The right-hander is now at a 3.34 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 206:43 K:BB through 188.2 innings across 31 starts. The Giants are in a wild-card race that could go down to the wire, so there shouldn't be any talk of Webb's season ending early as long as he stays healthy. He's tentatively projected to make his next start in a road rematch with the Dodgers next week.

  • Jordan Beck LF | COL

Rockies' Jordan Beck: Posts steal in Saturday's loss

Beck went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 11-3 loss to the Padres.

Beck has logged five multi-hit efforts over 12 games in September. He's batting .318 (14-for-44) so far this month, and he's added seven RBI and three steals. The outfielder is up to a .271/.331/.435 slash line with 15 home runs, 17 thefts, 51 RBI and 60 runs scored through 135 contests as the Rockies' primary left fielder.

  • John Curtiss RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' John Curtiss: Collects third win of 2025

Curtiss (3-1) came away with the win in Saturday's extra-inning game against the Twins, allowing one hit and zero walks while striking out two batters in two scoreless innings.

Curtiss was called upon in the ninth inning to keep the game tied at 2-2, and he was brought back for the 10th to protect the Diamondbacks' three-run lead, which he did successfully. Curtiss has worked out of the Diamondbacks' bullpen since late June after his contract was selected from Triple-A Reno, and he has a 3.06 ERA and 0.87 WHIP across 32.1 major-league innings this season.
