  • Max Kepler RF | PHI

Phillies' Max Kepler: Remains out with illness

Kepler (illness) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Kepler is absent from the starting nine for a second straight contest due to illness. Considering Philadelphia is locked into a Top 2 seed in the playoffs, the organization can afford to give Kepler an extended rest. Nick Castellanos will fill right field Saturday.

  • Jared Young 1B | NYM

Mets' Jared Young: Brought up from Syracuse

The Mets recalled Young from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

Young will join the active roster for the closing days of the regular season as the Mets place Brett Baty (oblique) on the injured list. Young should provide depth at the corner infield positions, but he doesn't have a clear path to playing time.

  • Brett Baty RF | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Placed on IL

The Mets placed Baty on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a right oblique strain.

Baty departed Friday's game with pain in his side, and further testing revealed he's dealing with a strained right oblique. The Mets are still in the mix for the NL's final Wild Card spot, but they'll have to chase a postseason berth without Baty. The third baseman will be eligible for reinstatement Oct. 7, though it's unclear if he'll require more than the minimum stay. Jared Young was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

  • Jordan Wicks SP | CHC

Cubs' Jordan Wicks: Back with MLB club

The Cubs recalled Wicks from the Arizona Complex League on Saturday.

Wicks will step onto the active roster in place of Cade Horton (rib), who was placed on the injured list. Wicks has a 7.94 ERA in 11.1 innings of relief with Chicago, and he posted a 3.67 ERA in 76 innings for Triple-A Iowa.

  • Cade Horton P | CHC

Cubs' Cade Horton: Placed on IL

The Cubs placed Horton on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Sept. 25, due to a right rib fracture, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.

Horton underwent an MRI earlier this week, which revealed "areas of concern" in his rib area. The Cubs initially planned on having Horton pitch through the issue and make a start during the NL Wild Card Series. However, Horton will require a stint on the injured list due to what's now known to be a fractured rib. The 24-year-old rookie will be eligible for reinstatement Oct. 10, one day before Game 5 of the NLDS. With Horton unavailable, Chicago will have to lean on Shota Imanaga, Matthew Boyd and Jameson Taillon.

    Nationals' Riley Adams: Sitting Saturday

Adams is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

  • Dylan Crews RF | WAS

    Nationals' Dylan Crews: Getting breather

Crews is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

  • Mickey Moniak LF | COL

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: On bench Saturday

Moniak is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against San Francisco.

Moniak is on the bench for a second straight game, yielding to Yanquiel Fernandez in right field. Moniak is 15-for-43 (.349) with five home runs in his last 11 games.

  • Tyler Freeman RF | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Out again Saturday

Freeman (back) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against San Francisco.

Freeman isn't part of the starting nine for a fifth straight contest due to a back injury. Warming Bernabel will draw the start at DH while Blaine Crim slots in at first base.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: On bench Saturday

Bailey is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bailey will take a seat for the second time in three games, giving way to Andrew Knizner behind the plate. Bailey is 20-for-69 (.290) with four home runs in September.
