Ohtani gave himself all the run support he needed by homering off Randy Vasquez's first pitch of the game. On the mound, it wasn't Ohtani's best work, but it was still excellent. He threw 53 of 88 pitches for strikes, though he had to navigate some tricky at-bats that ran the pitch count up early. This was his fourth scoreless outing in eight starts as a pitcher. He's worked to a 0.73 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 54:13 K:BB through 49 innings this season. At the plate, Ohtani has hit safely in seven straight games, going 13-for-27 (.481) with seven extra-base hits and 10 RBI in that span, which suggests he's worked his way out of his slump from earlier in May. He's up to a .272/.399/.486 slash line, eight homers, 26 RBI, 33 runs scored, six stolen bases, 11 doubles and a triple over 214 plate appearances.

McGreevy (3-3) allowed three runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out one over five-plus innings to take the loss versus the Pirates on Wednesday.

After giving up two runs through five frames, McGreevy returned for the sixth and promptly loaded the bases, with one run coming around to score after his exit. The performance ended a run of four straight starts with one or zero runs allowed. The 10 hits were a season high, while the one strikeout established a new low mark for the year. Overall, it's likely just a bump in the road for a pitcher who has managed mostly positive performances so far, though he has gotten by with a lot of luck thanks to a .230 BABIP. He's added a 2.40 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB through 56.1 innings over 10 starts.

Griffin went 4-for-5 with three runs scored in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Cardinals.

All four hits were singles, and the Pirates' strong showing from the bottom of the order helped Griffin score multiple runs in a game for just the third time. This was his second four-hit effort of the month, and he's batting .343 (23-for-67) with seven extra-base hits and three stolen bases over 17 contests in May. Overall, the rookie shortstop is hitting .278 with a .738 OPS, three home runs, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples and 10 stolen bases through his first 43 MLB games.

Horwitz went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Cardinals.

Horwitz ended a 15-game homer drought when he went deep in the second inning. While he didn't find much power during that stretch, he batted .313 with 11 RBI and a 9:7 BB:K. Horwitz is now batting .276 with an .814 OPS, four long balls, 21 RBI, 16 runs scored, one stolen base, seven doubles and a triple through 44 contests this season. He continues to handle a strong-side platoon role at first base.

Mlodzinski (4-3) allowed four hits and a walk while striking out one over five shutout innings to earn the win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Mlodzinski was back in a starting role after working in bulk relief versus the Rockies last Thursday. He's won three of his four starts in May, allowing a total of nine runs over 21.2 innings with a 14:6 K:BB this month. For the season, the 27-year-old now has a 3.96 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB through 50 innings over 10 appearances (eight starts). His next outing is projected to be at home versus the Cubs early next week.

Contreras went 3-for-4 with three singles, one walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Cubs.

It was Contreras' third multi-hit game in his last four contests, and he's now logged multiple hits in seven of 20 games over the last month. Contreras is on a six-game hitting streak, and while the power numbers haven't been there, the catcher remains an on-base machine that doesn't strike out much. On the season, Contreras is slashing .294/.366/.389 with three home runs, 27 RBI, 26 runs scored and a 20:23 BB:K across 202 plate appearances.

Harrison (5-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing two hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts across seven shutout innings.

Harrison allowed a leadoff double to Nico Hoerner to begin his night but then set down 15 straight Cubs at one point, cruising to his fifth victory of the season. Harrison has shown flashes of dominance in 2026 and generated an elite 41 percent whiff rate against Chicago. It was his second start with double-digit strikeouts this season after he'd accomplished the feat just twice in 37 starts across the previous three campaigns. He entered play Wednesday in the 91st percentile in strikeout rate, and that number is only going to improve after this masterclass. Harrison now owns a 1.77 ERA and 59:14 K:BB across 45.2 innings this season. He's lined up to face the Cardinals at home next week.

Abrams went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Mets.

The shortstop cracked his first homer since launching a grand slam during the May 6 victory over Minnesota. Abrams has hit safely in seven of his last nine games, turning in multiple hits on five occasions during that stretch. He's pushing for his second career All-Star nod in 2026, slashing a potent .300/.389/.539 with 22 extra-base hits (10 home runs), 42 RBI, seven stolen bases and 32 runs scored through 211 trips to the plate.

Soto went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to Washington.

The All-Star slugger is locked in at the plate, crushing five homers during his current seven-game hitting streak. Soto has nine RBI during that stretch, tallying multiple hits five times over that span as well. Across 148 plate appearances overall, he's slashing a robust .299/.392/.559 with 14 extra-base hits (nine home runs), 20 RBI, four stolen bases and 21 runs scored.

Mitchell was removed from Wednesday's game against the Cubs due to back tightness, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Mitchell said after the game that his removal was precautionary, and he didn't seem too concerned about it becoming a serious issue. He'll have a chance to rest and recover during the Brewers' day off Thursday, which could help him return to the starting nine for Friday's series opener against the Dodgers. If Milwaukee elects to hold him out, Blake Perkins would be in line for a start in the outfield.
