Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Mets' Pete Alonso: Exits after HBP on hand
Alonso was removed from Wednesday's game against the Dodgers after being hit on the right hand by a pitch in the first inning, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
A 93 mile-per-hour four-seamer struck Alonso, and he was lifted for a pinch runner after taking his base. The big first baseman is surely headed for X-rays, with an update on his condition from the Mets likely to come later Wednesday.

Trevor Megill RP | MIL
Brewers' Trevor Megill: Avoids IL, but could need time off
Megill (elbow) could be unavailable to pitch for a few days, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Megill was struck on the right elbow by a comebacker in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs. While X-rays came back negative and he has avoided the injured list for the time being, Megill might need a little time for the elbow to calm down. Joel Payamps would seem to be the most likely candidate for saves while Megill is unavailable.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mets' Edwin Diaz: Hits IL with shoulder impingement
The Mets placed Diaz on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement.
Left-hander Josh Walker was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to take Diaz's spot on the 26-man active roster and in the New York bullpen. After blowing ninth-inning leads in four of his last five appearances, Diaz had already been expected to get a break from closing duties, and his injury will only further delay his opportunity to resurface as the Mets' preferred ninth-inning man. Reed Garrett and Adam Ottavino likely represent the best bets for saves out of the Mets bullpen while Diaz is on the shelf.

Lars Nootbaar LF | ARI
Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Exits with apparent side issue
Nootbaar was removed in the bottom of the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the Reds with an apparent left side injury, John Denton of MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-4 with a pair of base hits before being lifted from the game.
Nootbaar grimaced on a check swing during a plate appearance in the seventh inning. He initially remained in the game after reaching on an infield single before eventually being pulled prior to the bottom of the eighth inning. The Cardinals could have more information on Nootbaar's condition after the game.

Edward Olivares RF | PIT
Pirates' Edward Olivares: Resting for second leg of twin bill
Olivares is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers.
Olivares was in the lineup for the fourth time in five games in the Pirates' 8-0 loss to open the doubleheader, starting in right field while going 0-for-3 with a strikeout. He'll hit the bench for the second game of the day, with Rowdy Tellez replacing him in the lineup and starting at first base and Connor Joe shifting from first base to right field.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Resting for second game of twin bill
Hayes is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers.
After being activated from the injured list Tuesday, Hayes had to wait a day to make his return to the lineup due to a rainout creating a doubleheader Wednesday. He started at third base and played all eight innings in the field in the Pirates' 8-0 loss in the first game of the day, going 0-for-2 with a walk. Hayes should settle back into an everyday role at the hot corner, but the Pirates won't have him play two full games in his first day back in the lineup. Jared Triolo will fill in for him at third base in the second game of the day.

Sean Murphy C | ATL
Braves' Sean Murphy: Not in lineup Wednesday
Murphy is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.
Murphy started the first two games of the series against the Nationals in his return from the injured list, going 2-for-7 with an RBI. He will give way to Travis d'Arnaud behind the plate on Wednesday.

Yasmani Grandal C | PIT
Pirates' Yasmani Grandal: Sitting out second game
Grandal is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
Grandal caught Jared Jones in the Pirates' 8-0 loss in the opening game of the day and went 1-for-3 with a single. He will yield the catching duties in the second game to Grant Koch, who will be making his first MLB start.

Ramon Laureano LF | SD
Braves' Ramon Laureano: Lands in Atlanta
Laureano signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Wednesday.
Atlanta is a sensible landing spot for Laureano after the club lost star right fielder Ronald Acuna (knee) to a season-ending ACL tear over the weekend. Though Laureano won't immediately join the big club and is likely to report to Triple-A Gwinnett, he could be an option to serve as a fourth outfielder for Atlanta down the road or potentially unseat Jarred Kelenic or Adam Duvall for a starting role at a corner spot. Laureano has been a better-than-league-average hitter over parts of seven seasons in the majors (107 wRC+ in 543 games), but he's struggled to find much success since being waived by the Athletics last August. He slashed just .143/.265/.229 in 83 plate appearances for the Guardians this season before being released Saturday.
