  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Out of lineup Monday

Chapman (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Astros, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Chapman will sit for a second straight game due to a hamstring cramp he sustained in Saturday's game against the Rangers. Casey Schmitt will start at the hot corner and bat ninth against Houston right-hander Spencer Arrighetti.

  • Blake Perkins CF | CLE

    Brewers' Blake Perkins: Sitting Monday

Perkins is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Blue Jays.

Perkins will begin Monday's game in the dugout after starting in each of the last six games. Over that span, the 27-year-old has gone 8-for-21 with two triples and two RBI. Sal Frelick will shift to center field while Jackson Chourio will start in right field against Toronto right-hander Jose Berrios.

  • Ben Heller RP | CHC

Pirates' Ben Heller: DFA'd by Pittsburgh

The Pirates designated Heller for assignment Monday.

Heller was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. He struggled in his two major-league outings, giving up 12 runs (11 earned) on nine hits and one walk while striking out three over just two innings. The move corresponds with the Pirates claiming infielder Niko Goodrum from the Angels.

  • DL Hall RP | MIL

Brewers' DL Hall: Cleared to resume rehab assignment

Hall (knee) will join Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday to resume his rehab assignment, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Hall experienced a setback with his sprained left knee during his second rehab appearance May 23. He's expected to eventually require a platelet-rich plasma injection or possibly surgery for the knee, but for now, he'll attempt to pitch through the injury. Given that he's been on the injured list since April 20 and hasn't made a rehab appearance in about three weeks, Hall will likely require multiple outings at Nashville to get fully stretched out before he's an option for the Milwaukee rotation.

  • Niko Goodrum 2B | SD

Pirates' Niko Goodrum: Claimed off waivers by Pittsburgh

The Pirates claimed Goodrum off waivers and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.

Goodrum was DFA'd by the Angels after being optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on May 16, where he has gone 5-for-25 with a 30 percent strikeout rate. To make room for Goodrum, Pittsburgh designated right-hander Ben Heller for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Jakob Junis RP | TEX

Brewers' Jakob Junis: Simulated game set for Wednesday

Junis (shoulder) will throw a four-inning simulated game Wednesday in Arizona, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Junis made a 2.1-inning rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Nashville, but his velocity wasn't where he and the Brewers hoped. If his velocity bounces back during Wednesday's simulated game, it's possible he could be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list next week. Junis has been sidelined since early April, first with a right shoulder impingement and then with a head injury that occurred when he was hit by a ball during batting practice. The Brewers could have a spot in their injury-ravaged rotation available for Junis once he returns from the IL, though the team may prefer to ease him back into the mix in a multi-inning role out of the bullpen.

  • Padres' David Peralta: Sitting Monday

Peralta is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Athletics.

With Manny Machado (hip) returning from a four-game absence Monday and serving as the designated hitter, the Padres have opted to start Donovan Solano at third base, which will bump Peralta to the dugout. Peralta went 5-for-12 with two doubles and two RBI in the four-game series against the Diamondbacks. Since his promotion to the majors May 22, Peralta is slashing .250/.351/.313 with three RBI over 37 plate appearances.

  • Joe Ross RP | TEX

    Brewers' Joe Ross: Suffers setback

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that Ross (back) recently suffered a setback and is without a timeline to resume his throwing program, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The Brewers had previously hoped that Ross would be ready to return from the 15-day injured list around mid-June, but his setback now takes that off the table. The veteran right-hander has been shelved since late May with a lower-back strain. He went 2-4 with a 4.50 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 35:16 K:BB in 42 innings over his nine starts prior to being placed on the IL.

  • Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Set to start Wednesday

Schwellenbach is listed as Atlanta's starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Orioles in Baltimore.

He will be matched up against former college teammate Cade Povich in a battle between two of the top pitching prospects in both organizations. Schwellenbach hasn't looked sharp in his first two major-league outings, allowing a total of nine runs over 9.2 innings in losses to the Nationals and Red Sox. The young righty's future still looks bright, but he'll be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes Wednesday in a tough matchup.

  • Jake Cave LF | COL

Rockies' Jake Cave: Playing-time window reopens

Cave will start in left field and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Twins, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Cave will nab his seventh consecutive start in the Colorado outfield, despite going 2-for-16 with five walks in the first six of those contests. Though he's benefited from extra opportunities due to Kris Bryant (ribs) and Sean Bouchard (ankle) recently joining Jordan Beck (hand) and Nolan Jones (knee) on the injured list, Cave is a prime candidate to lose out on a regular lineup spot in the near future with Jones' return seemingly imminent.
