Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Rehab assignment on tap

Edman (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City during the weekend, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Edman is slated to play in a simulated game Thursday to test his wrist in the field, and he'll head back out on a rehab assignment if all goes well. The 29-year-old infielder is expected to remain in the minors for at least a week in what will be his third separate rehab stint of the year.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Rehab assignment approaching

Muncy (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City over the weekend, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Muncy will spend at least a week in Triple-A before returning to the Dodgers, putting his earliest possible return date sometime in mid-August. The slugging third baseman has been on the injured list since May 17 with a right oblique strain and only recently began making strides in his recovery after a chiropractor visit last week.

  • Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Dealing with Grade 1 strain

Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Graterol is dealing with a Grade 1 strain of his right hamstring, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Graterol was initially believed to have suffered a Grade 3 strain during his outing Tuesday, but the Dodgers' skipper corrected his previous statements. The news gives the 25-year-old reliever a significantly greater chance of pitching again for the Dodgers this season, though it remains unclear how far he is from a return.

  • Andy Pages CF | LAD

Dodgers' Andy Pages: On bench Wednesday

Pages is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Pages went 3-for-6 with a walk, two doubles, an RBI and a run in the first two games of the series but will sit for Wednesday's finale. Kevin Kiermaier will start in center field and bat ninth.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Receiving Wednesday off

Smith is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Smith started the first two games of the series but will sit for the finale after going 0-for-8 with an RBI and three strikeouts. Austin Barnes will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Gavin Stone.

  • Tommy Pham DH | CHW

Cardinals' Tommy Pham: Getting night off

Pham is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Pham produced a 1.060 OPS while starting each of the last seven games, but he'll pick up some rest Wednesday while Brendan Donovan checks in for him in left field. So long as he's wielding a hot bat, Pham should be in store for a regular spot in the St. Louis lineup, especially while fellow outfielder Michael Siani (oblique) is on the shelf.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Taking seat Wednesday amid slump

Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Alec Burleson will step in at first base while Goldschmidt exits the starting lineup for the first time since July 13, when he hit the bench for the first game of a doubleheader. After his bat had begun to heat up coming out of the All-Star break, Goldschmidt has started slumping again; he's gone 0-for-7 with seven punchouts against three walks over his last five games.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Heading to bench with RHP on mound

Pages is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Pages had started in each of the last three games while the Cardinals faced left-handed pitchers, but he'll retreat to the bench Wednesday as the Rays send right-hander Taj Bradley to the bump. Willson Contreras will step back in behind the plate after serving as the Cardinals' designated hitter in each of the last three contests.

  • Eddie Rosario RF | MIL

Braves' Eddie Rosario: Getting rare day off versus righty

Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Atlanta is facing a right-handed starter (Freddy Peralta) for the ninth game in a row Wednesday, but the lefty-hitting Rosario will give way to the right-handed-hitting Adam Duvall for the first time during that stretch. Manager Brian Snitker might have just wanted to get Duvall some work to keep him sharp at the plate, but Rosario hasn't done much to justify maintaining a strong-side platoon role. Since joining Atlanta on July 8, Rosario is slashing .154/.181/.282 with a 27.4 percent strikeout rate.

  • Sal Frelick RF | MIL

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Retreating to bench versus lefty

Frelick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

The lefty-hitting Frelick will head to the bench for the second time in three games while the Brewers face off against another southpaw (Chris Sale). Blake Perkins will take Frelick's spot in the outfield, manning center while batting seventh.
