Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Rockies' Austin Gomber: Surrenders four runs in loss
Gomber (4-9) allowed four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Yankees.
Gomber gave up just one of the Yankees' five homers, a two-run blast to Aaron Judge in the first inning, but the Rockies' offense wasn't good enough to keep him off the hook. This was Gomber's first loss in three starts, and he's allowed a modest seven runs over 19 innings in that span, which has all come away from Colorado. He's actually been slightly better at home in 2024 with a 4.42 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 57 innings at Coors Field compared to a 4.89 ERA and 1.32 WHIP through 81 innings on the road. For the season, the southpaw has a 4.70 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 98:35 K:BB through 138 innings over 25 starts. He's lined up to make his next start at home versus the Orioles.

Joey Bart C | CHW
Pirates' Joey Bart: Set to be placed on IL
Bart (hamstring) is expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Bart was removed from Sunday's contest against the Reds as a result of a left hamstring injury, and he'll now be forced to miss some extended time. In Bart's absence, Henry Davis is expected to be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday and he'll likely split time with Yasmani Grandal at catcher.

Pirates' Henry Davis: Set to join major-league roster
Davis is expected to be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Davis will return to the major-league roster for the first time since mid-June after producing a .301 average with six home runs, 26 RBI, 25 runs scored and seven stolen bases since his demotion. The 24-year-old will replace Joey Bart (hamstring) in a timeshare at catcher with Yasmani Grandal after Bart is officially placed on the 10-day injured list Monday.

Riley Adams C | WAS
Nationals' Riley Adams: Moving to Triple-A
Adams was optioned to Triple-A Rochester following Sunday's 5-1 win over Atlanta, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.
Adams will head back to Triple-A after batting .243 with two RBI and four runs over 37 at-bats since getting a call-up to Washington on July 3. With Adams headed to Rochester, Drew Millas will operate as the primary backup option at catcher behind Keibert Ruiz.

Ian Happ LF | CHC
Cubs' Ian Happ: Tallies three hits Sunday
Happ went 3-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Marlins.
Happ had half of the Cubs' hit and also knocked in their second run with a ninth-inning double. He's hit safely in 12 of his last 15 games, going 17-for-60 (.283) with six home runs, 10 RBI and four doubles in that span. The outfielder is up to a .234/.339/.458 slash line with 23 homers, 72 RBI, 74 runs scored, 29 doubles and nine stolen bases over 124 contests this season, though his hitting has often been streaky.

Javier Assad RP | CHC
Cubs' Javier Assad: Goes seven innings in loss
Assad (6-4) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three over seven innings, taking the loss versus the Marlins on Sunday.
Assad gave up solo home runs to Connor Norby and Jesus Sanchez in the first inning, and the Cubs never recovered from that. Despite the early struggles, Assad was able to grind out seven innings for the first time this year on an efficient 87 pitches (59 strikes) to earn his first quality start in five outings in August. He's pitched to a 3.15 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 102:51 K:BB through 120 innings over 24 starts this season. The right-hander's next start is projected to be on the road against the Nationals.

Jesus Sanchez DH | ARI
Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Knocks homer in win
Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Cubs.
This was Sanchez's first homer in nine games, a span in which he's hitting just .207 (6-for-29) with three RBI. The outfielder is now at a .237/.295/.415 slash line with 16 long balls, 50 RBI, 44 runs scored, 19 doubles and nine stolen bases across 119 contests this season. His counting stats are right in line with what he produced last year, but he's taken a step back with his ratios, including a career-worst 6.6 percent walk rate.

Connor Norby 2B | COL
Marlins' Connor Norby: Homer among three hits in win
Norby went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Cubs.
Norby has hit the ground running with the Marlins, going 9-for-24 (.375) over his first six games with the team. He's homered in back-to-back contests, giving him four long balls on the year. The infielder has added six RBI, 10 runs scored, one stolen base and a .268 batting average through 15 games between Miami and Baltimore this year. Norby is seeing steady playing time at third base, though he's likely to drop back into the bottom half of the order once Xavier Edwards (back) returns -- Norby has hit leadoff in both games Edwards has sat out.

Adam Oller RP | MIA
Marlins' Adam Oller: Shows improvement Sunday
Oller (1-1) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Sunday.
Oller limited the damage to an RBI single by Christian Bethancourt in the second inning. This was a much better start for Oller compared to his major-league season debut Monday versus Arizona, in which he yielded five runs over 4.2 innings. He's now at a 5.23 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB through 10.1 innings. Oller is likely safe to pencil in for at least one more start, as the Marlins aren't expected to get any of their injured starters back before the end of the month. He's lined up for a road outing at San Francisco.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Out with fractured finger
Baty was diagnosed with a fractured left index finger Sunday and is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks.
Baty had .997 OPS in his last 12 games with Triple-A Syracuse and had a chance of rejoining the Mets down the stretch, but the injury will instead put him on the injured list for the foreseeable future. The 25-year-old hasn't been ruled out for the season, but any complications in his recovery would make a return this year difficult.
