The Marlins placed Cronin on the 15-day injured list Friday with left knee tendinitis, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cronin dealt with an undisclosed injury a few weeks ago, but it's unclear whether that was related to his current issue. The reliever's season will end with him having posted a 4.35 ERA and 72:25 K:BB over 70.1 innings covering 56 appearances.

Lindor (back) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Friday's game in Milwaukee, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Lindor had been slated to return to action Wednesday in Atlanta before that game got rained out. Instead, his eight-game absence will end Friday as the Mets open a series against the Brewers.

Marte is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers.

After making four straight starts, Marte will take a seat for Friday's series opener in Milwaukee. Jesse Winker will fill right field while J.D. Martinez plays DH.

Triolo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees.

Triolo will yield to Connor Joe at first base Friday against Carlos Rodon and the Yankees. Since the start of September, Triolo is 20-for-76 (.263) with two homers, nine runs and eight RBI.

Cruz is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees.

The left-handed-hitting Cruz will be given a day off as the Yankees send southpaw Carlos Rodon to the bump. Billy Cook is in center field and batting ninth for the Pirates in the series opener.

Rodgers (hamstring) will start at second base and bat sixth in Friday's game against the Dodgers.

Rodgers missed each of the previous three contests with left hamstring tightness but has improved enough to give it a go in the series opener versus the Dodgers. After putting up a .936 OPS in August, Rodgers has cratered to a .496 OPS in September.

McCarthy is out of the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego.

McCarthy had started 19 of the Diamondbacks' previous 20 games, but he'll be on the bench for Friday's series opener. Lourdes Gurriel, Corbin Carroll and Pavin Smith fill the outfield from left to right.

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

D'Arnaud will take a seat for a second consecutive game, giving way to Sean Murphy behind the dish. D'Arnaud hasn't had a multi-hit game since Aug. 13.

Burrows has been added to the Pirates' taxi squad prior to Friday's game against the Yankees, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

While he is not on the active roster yet, it seems likely that could happen sometime this weekend. Burrows, 24, holds a 4.06 ERA and 45:15 K:BB over 37.2 innings this season at Triple-A Indianapolis and would be making his major-league debut should he get into a game.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Friday that Suzuki's right ankle is "much improved" and he's optimistic Suzuki will be back in the lineup Saturday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Suzuki is missing a second straight start Friday after departing Tuesday's game versus the Phillies with a sprained ankle. However, he hit in a batting cage pregame and will be available off the bench before likely returning to the lineup Saturday.
