Webb didn't factor into the decision in Thursday's win over the Reds, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Webb showed signs of rust in his season debut -- the right-hander had to contend with traffic throughout the start, eventually conceding three runs on a pair of Jeimer Candelario base hits. The 28-year-old Webb will look for better results in his next outing, currently lined up for next week against Seattle. Webb went 13-10 with a 3.47 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 172 strikeouts at the front of San Francisco's rotation last season.

Greene didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Giants, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out eight.

A two-run Heliot Ramos homer in the fourth inning accounted for all of the Giants' scoring against Greene in what was an otherwise impressive opener for the right-hander. The 25-year-old Greene is coming off an excellent 2024 campaign where he went 9-5 with a 2.75 ERA and 169 strikeouts across 150.1 innings. He's currently lined up to face the Brewers on the road in his second outing.

Walker earned the save in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Reds, allowing a run on one hit in the ninth inning.

Walker recorded the first two outs in the ninth before hitting Jacob Hurtubise with a pitch, who then came around to score on a TJ Friedl single. However, Walker would rebound and record the final out to close out the Giants' Opening Day victory. The 29-year-old Walker is coming off an impressive 2024 campaign, during which he posted a 1.91 ERA and 0.85 WHIP across 80 innings. He logged 10 saves after taking over the closer job late in the year and should have pretty good job security to begin 2025.

Gibaut (0-1) was charged with the loss and a blown save Thursday against the Giants after giving up four runs on three hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out two.

Gibaut was literally the last pitcher added to the Reds' roster after Alexis Diaz (hamstring) was placed on the IL earlier this week, so it was a major surprise he was called upon for the save Opening Day. It's noteworthy that potential fill-in closers Scott Barlow, Emilio Pagan and Tony Santillan pitched the sixth-through-eighth innings, but that still left Taylor Rogers and Graham Ashcraft available. Gibaut had a 3.33 ERA and 23 holds in 74 outings for Cincinnati in 2023, but he has a 4.33 ERA in his MLB career and isn't likely to see consistent high-leverage opportunities.

Lindor went 0-for-4 with one RBI and two strikeouts in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Astros.

The 31-year-old struck out swinging twice but still produced the Mets' lone run of the contest as he delivered a sacrifice fly to score Starling Marte during the ninth inning. Lindor has been a slow starter throughout his career with a .245 average in March and April, and he followed that trend on Opening Day this year.

Soto went 1-for-3 with two walks and one strikeout during Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Astros.

It didn't take long for Soto to register his first hit in a Mets uniform, knocking a single off Framber Valdez into center field. Soto earned free passes in two of his next three plate appearances, and he had the chance to sneak out a win in the ninth inning, but he chased on an outside slider from Josh Hader for the game-ending strikeout. Soto will look to give the Mets a bigger punch with his bat Friday against right-hander Tylor Megill, whom Soto has cracked two home runs across 11 plate appearances.

Holmes (0-1) came away with the loss against the Astros on Thursday after giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

Holmes entered Opening Day on the heels of a strong spring, during which he posted a 0.93 ERA and 23:8 K:BB across 19.1 Grapefruit League innings. Thursday was his first Opening Day start and his first MLB start period since his rookie year in 2019. Holmes was able to limit the damage despite a lot of traffic, but he couldn't avoid the loss since New York managed just one run. The right-hander will look to display better control in his next start, which tentatively lines up for next week in Miami.

Chourio went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Yankees.

Chourio carried a hot bat in spring training with a 1.224 OPS and just seven strikeouts in 53 Cactus League plate appearances, but he nearly matched that total Opening Day. The 21-year-old had a chance to redeem himself during the ninth inning with the bases loaded, but he was instead punched out by former teammate Devin Williams to complete the platinum sombrero. Chourio will attempt to turn the page Saturday after Friday's team off day and get back to the .914 OPS he posted during the second half of the 2024 regular season.

Peralta (0-1) was charged with the loss Thursday against the Yankees, striking out eight and allowing two runs on four hits and one walk across five innings.

The 28-year-old surrendered solo homers in each of the first two frames but settled down from there to keep the Brewers close. It was an inefficient outing despite just one free pass, as Peralta needed 93 pitches to record 15 outs. The right-hander averaged only 5.4 innings per start while throwing a career-high 173.2 frames last year, and his season debut doesn't inspire confidence that he'll be able to consistently work deeper into games in 2025. Even with some volume limitations however, he's reached 200 strikeouts in each of the past two seasons. Peralta lines up to face the Royals at home next week.

Gonzales was removed from Thursday's game versus Miami due to left ankle soreness, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Gonzales smacked a two-run homer in the sixth inning of Thursday's contest but seemingly injured himself in the process, as he had a noticeable limp while rounding the bases. He's being considered day-to-day for now, though the Pirates' medical staff will continue to keep an eye on him. Adam Frazier entered Thursday's contest as Gonzales' replacement and would be the favorite to start at second base if the latter needs to miss any amount of time.
