The Nationals placed Soroka on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right bicep strain, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Soroka had hoped to make his next start after exiting his first outing of the season March 31 with what the team had referred to as a bicep cramp. However, the injury is now classified as a strain and will sideline him for at least a couple starts. It's not yet clear whom the Nationals will turn to in Soroka's spot in the rotation.

Double-A Springfield placed Hjerpe on the injured list with an undisclosed injury, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

He's missed a lot of time with elbow injuries since being selected in the first round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft. Hjerpe's inability to handle a starter's workload thus far points to a future in relief. He had a 3.27 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 76:28 K:BB in 52.1 innings (15 starts) at Double-A last year.

High-A Peoria placed Lin on the injured list with an undisclosed injury, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

Lin is a hard thrower with a starter's pitch mix who logged a 2.79 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 123:36 K:BB in 116 innings as a 22-year-old at Single-A last season. He's a little behind his peers developmentally, and he has yet to have success against age-appropriate competition.

The Cardinals placed Gorman on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to April 2, due to a right hamstring strain, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Gorman presumably suffered the injury during his last appearance Tuesday versus the Angels, during which he went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run scored. Prior to the injury, the 24-year-old had started just two of the Cardinals' first five games with Brendan Donovan and Alec Burleson operating as the primary second baseman and designated hitter, respectively. Gorman will be eligible to be reinstated April 12, though he could be sidelined beyond the 10-day minimum.

Bryant is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

It's the second straight day on the bench for Bryant, who is just 1-for-14 with six strikeouts in the early going this season. Hunter Goodman is in the designated hitter spot Friday and Jacob Stallings is doing the catching.

Baty is absent from the lineup for Friday's tilt versus the Blue Jays, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

After starting each of the first three games at second base against right-handers, Baty has now been on the bench for two of the last three contests versus righties. Luisangel Acuna will be at the keystone and batting eighth versus righty Kevin Gausman in the series opener.

Winker is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

It's right-hander Kevin Gausman on the hill for Toronto, but the left-handed hitting Winker will yield to righty Starling Marte at designated hitter. Winker is off to a 2-for-13 start at the plate this season for the Mets.

Alexander will be the Brewers' starting pitcher in Friday's game against the Reds, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Alexander's most recent of two relief appearances this season came Sunday, when he threw 47 pitches over 2.1 innings. While it won't be a traditional opener assignment, he will not be handling a full starter's workload Friday.

The Cardinals recalled Saggese from Triple-A Memphis on Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

He's taking the roster spot vacated by Nolan Gorman (hamstring). Saggese had gone 4-for-14 with one home run and a 3:2 K:BB over his first four games with Memphis this season. He is likely to serve in a reserve infielder role.

Realmuto went 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and two stolen bases in Thursday's 3-1 win over Colorado.

It was an encouraging effort from Realmuto, who'd gone just 2-for-17 (.118) in four games prior to Thursday's contest. With his two steals, the 34-year-old catcher has already matched his regular-season total from 2024, where he slashed .266/.322/.429 with 14 homers, 47 RBI and 50 runs scored across 413 plate appearances.
