Amed Rosario 3B | NYY
Nationals' Amed Rosario: Remains in backup role
Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Even though CJ Abrams (hip) and Paul DeJong (nose) are both still on the injured list, Rosario has seen his playing time trend down lately. After making consecutive starts at third base April 12 and 13, Rosario has cracked the lineup just three times in the Nationals' ensuing nine games. Jose Tena has emerged as Washington's preferred option at third base, while Nasim Nunez is serving as Abrams' primary replacement at shortstop.

Justin Steele SP | CHC
Cubs' Justin Steele: Shifts to 60-day injured list
The Cubs transferred Steele (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Steele underwent UCL surgery last week and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 season, so the move won't affect his timeline for a return. The transaction will instead open up a spot on the 40-man roster for lefty reliever Drew Pomeranz, whose contract was selected in a corresponding move.

Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Cubs' Drew Pomeranz: Added to roster
The Cubs selected Pomeranz's contract from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
The Cubs acquired Pomeranz via trade from the Mariners on Monday with the intention of adding him to the big-league roster, and the move is now official. He posted a 4.66 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB across 9.2 innings at the Triple-A level this season. If and when Pomeranz makes an appearance for the Cubs, it will be his first at the major-league level since 2021.

Kyle Hart RP | SD
Padres' Kyle Hart: Falls to Detroit
Hart (2-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Tigers, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk across 4.1 innings. He struck out six.
Both runs against Hart came via solo home runs -- a Gleyber Torres blast in the first inning before Justyn-Henry Malloy increased the Padres' deficit to 2-0 with a homer in the fifth, forcing Hart out of the game. The 32-year-old left-hander has been up-and-down through his first five starts (21 innings) with the Padres, posting a 6.00 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB. Hart is currently scheduled to face the Giants at home in his next outing.

Gavin Hollowell RP | CHC
Cubs' Gavin Hollowell: Dispatched to Triple-A
The Cubs optioned Hollowell to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Hollowell struck out two in two perfect innings in his lone appearance with the big club. The Cubs will replace him in the bullpen with left-hander Drew Pomeranz, whom the team acquired from the Mariners earlier in the week.

Gage Workman 3B | SD
Cubs' Gage Workman: Loses 40-man roster spot
The Cubs designated Workman for assignment Wednesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Workman had some defensive lapses and went just 3-for-14 at the plate in nine games for the Cubs this season. The Rule 5 pick will be available via trade or a waiver claim, but if no other teams are willing to dedicate an active roster spot to him, he must be offered back to the Tigers for $50,000.

Nicky Lopez 2B | TEX
Cubs' Nicky Lopez: Returns to Chicago on MLB deal
The Cubs signed Lopez to a one-year contract Wednesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Lopez was with the Cubs during spring training before opting out of his minor-league contract and eventually signing with the Angels. He's now back in Chicago and will initially fill a utility role in the infield, though he could get a decent amount of playing time at third base if the Cubs aren't satisfied with Jon Berti as their primary option at the position.

Adael Amador 2B | COL
Rockies' Adael Amador: Getting regular run at 2B
Amador will start at second base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Royals.
After being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on April 13 when Tyler Freeman (oblique) was placed on the injured list, Amador initially looked on track to fill Freeman's role as a backup infielder. However, with Ezequiel Tovar joining Freeman on the IL less than a week later, Amador has moved into a near-everyday role in the middle infield alongside Kyle Farmer. Amador will make his seventh start in nine games Wednesday, but he's thus far done little with his opportunity, going 2-for-20 with no walks and eight strikeouts.
-
Jacob Stallings C | BAL
Rockies' Jacob Stallings: Getting day off
Stallings is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.
Stallings had started at catcher in four of the Rockies' last six games, with his surge in playing time coming shortly after Colorado placed Kris Bryant (back) on the injured list, which has allowed Hunter Goodman to see more starts at designated hitter. Goodman will be back behind the dish Wednesday, so Stallings will head to the bench while Nick Martini steps in as Colorado's DH.

Kris Bryant RF | COL
Rockies' Kris Bryant: Activation not imminent
Bryant (back) didn't join the Rockies for its three-game road trip in Kansas City that began Tuesday and is continuing to receive treatment in Denver, MLB.com reports.
Bryant is eligible to be activated from the 10-day injured list this week, but with his back pain still persisting, it's unclear when he might be ready to return to game action. The Rockies have deployed the 33-year-old exclusively at designated hitter so far this season with the hope that it would help him maintain health, but the gambit hasn't paid off so far. He produced a lowly .400 OPS over 41 plate appearances in 11 games before landing on the IL on April 14 due to lumbar degenerative disc disease.
