Grant Anderson RP | MIL
Brewers' Grant Anderson: Leaves appearance with injury
Anderson was removed from Thursday's appearance versus the Giants in the seventh inning after being struck in the right forearm by a line drive, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Anderson had already thrown 30 pitches and allowed two runs over 1.1 innings before exiting, so his removal could have been precautionary. It's unclear whether the reliever will be sent for medical imaging, so he should be considered day-to-day until his status is updated.

Jackson Merrill CF | SD
Padres' Jackson Merrill: Adds sixth homer
Merrill went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies.
Merrill made things interesting in the ninth inning with his two-run blast off lefty Jose Alvarado, cutting San Diego's deficit to 6-4. It's the sixth homer of the year for Merrill, who's gone 9-for-26 (.308) with a pair of long balls and a .956 OPS in his last seven games. After a slow start to the season, Merrill is now slashing .207/.280/.341 with 24 RBI, 27 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.

Phillies' Adolis Garcia: Homers Thursday
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Padres.
Garcia extended the Phillies' lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning with a 429-foot blast off Lucas Giolito for his fifth homer this season and first since May 6. Garcia is now 3-for-10 with a pair of extra-base hits in his last three contests after going 0-for-17 in his previous six games. Lucas Giolito SP | SD
Padres' Lucas Giolito: Falls to Phillies
Giolito (2-1) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out five.
Giolito held the Phillies scoreless through his first three innings Thursday before giving up a run on a two-out single in the fourth. Giolito would then allow a home run and a double to the first two batters he faced in the fifth, forcing the Padres to turn to their bullpen. The 31-year-old Giolito has yet to pitch into the sixth inning through four starts this season, though he still picked up a pair of wins while covering exactly five frames in his first two outings. Overall, his ERA sits at 4.86 with a 1.74 WHIP and 11:13 K:BB over 16.2 innings. Giolito is tentatively lined up to face the Reds at home in his next outing.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Rebounds vs. Padres
Wheeler (5-1) earned the win Thursday over San Diego, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out eight.
It was a strong bounce-back effort from Wheeler, who gave up four runs on four homers in a loss to the Dodgers his last time out. The right-hander blanked the Padres through six innings Thursday before giving up a two-run homer to Manny Machado in the seventh for his sixth quality start of the campaign. Wheeler's ERA now sits at 2.31 on the year with a 0.83 WHIP and 48:12 K:BB across eight starts (50.2 innings). He's currently in line for a road matchup with the Blue Jays in his next outing.

DL Hall RP | MIL
Brewers' DL Hall: Exits appearance with injury
Hall was removed from Thursday's game versus the Giants due to an undisclosed injury, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
It's unclear what was bothering Hall, but he was escorted to the clubhouse with the Brewers' trainer in the fifth inning. The lefty had struck out one over 2.1 scoreless frames before being pulled. The Brewers should have more on Hall's status soon.

Jorge Mateo SS | ATL
Braves' Jorge Mateo: Out of lineup again Thursday
Mateo is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Blue Jays.
After starting six consecutive games (four at shortstop), Mateo has now been absent from the lineup two days in a row despite posting a .984 OPS during that former span. Mauricio Dubon is getting a start at shortstop for Atlanta in the series finale.

Philip Abner RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Philip Abner: Recalled from Reno
The Diamondbacks recalled Abner from Triple-A Reno on Thursday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Abner will join Kade Strowd on the trip back to the majors to replace Brandon Pfaadt and Taylor Clarke (bereavement) in Arizona's bullpen. Abner gave up two earned runs in 2.1 innings during his lone appearance with the D-backs this season and has pitched to a 5.12 ERA in 19.1 frames during his time in Triple-A, so he shouldn't be expected to receive much more than low-leverage work.

Tyler Phillips RP | MIA
Marlins' Tyler Phillips: Set for bulk-relief outing Friday
Phillips will enter Friday's game versus the Rays at some point after starting pitcher Ryan Gusto, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Each of Phillips' last two appearances were traditional starts, but he'll come out of the bullpen Friday. The right-hander went five innings and threw 72 pitches his last time out, so he'll likely provide length Friday in what could be a piggyback start with Gusto.

Kade Strowd RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Kade Strowd: Back in big leagues
The Diamondbacks recalled Strowd from Triple-A Reno on Thursday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Strowd has spent the entire season at Triple-A, turning in a 4.95 ERA and 1.80 WHIP with a 19:16 K:BB through 20 innings. He'll now be summoned to the major-league roster to help replace Brandon Pfaadt and Taylor Clarke (bereavement), though Strowd will likely be limited to low-leverage opportunities with the big club.
