Manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Young may need to undergo Tommy John surgery, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Young landed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to a sprained left elbow, but he now may be at risk of missing the rest of the season plus a significant portion of the 2026 campaign. The Mets will know more about how to properly handle the southpaw's injury within the next few days, but he's likely facing an extended absence even if he doesn't undergo surgery.

McCutchen went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run double in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

McCutchen put the Pirates up for good in the seventh inning, when his double to center field off Brad Keller plated Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Bryan Reynolds. McCutchen has logged at least one hit in nine of his last 10 games, and over that span he has gone 13-for-40 (.325) with one stolen base, five runs scored, two home runs and seven RBI.

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Wednesday extended Lowe's extra-base hit streak to a modest three games, and it comes after the veteran slugger had gone just 1-for-19 in his previous five outings. Lowe entered the day with a poor 30.3 percent strikeout rate in 2025, but he's still slashing a solid .248/.325/.460 with six home runs, six doubles, 24 RBI and one stolen base over 126 plate appearances (31 games) this season.

Halvorsen struck out two in a perfect eighth inning Wednesday to record his first hold of the season in a 2-1 win over Atlanta.

The 25-year-old righty hasn't notched a save since March 29, blowing his only other chance April 22, and the Rockies elected to use Halvorsen in a setup role Wednesday while letting Zach Agnos handle the ninth and pick up his first career save. Halvorsen did face Atlanta's 9-1-2 hitters, striking out Eddie Rosario and Austin Riley, so it was still a very high-leverage spot. Tyler Kinley, who hasn't pitched since Saturday, also figures to be in the closer mix for Colorado, but the team's 5-25 record hasn't provided many opportunities for manager Bud Black to reveal his tendencies with his current bullpen. On the season, Halvorsen has a 4.26 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB through 12.2 innings.

Agnos gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his first career save in a 2-1 win over Atlanta.

The 24-year-old rookie handled the heart of Atlanta's order on 14 pitches (eight strikes), as he staked his claim to being part of the closer picture for the Rockies. Seth Halvorsen picked up his first hold of the season with a perfect eighth inning, while Tyler Kinley hasn't pitched since Saturday after walked four batters and getting tagged for three runs (two earned) in his last two appearances. Agnos has an impressive arsenal and high-leverage experience in the minors, but so far he's had trouble putting away big-league hitters -- while he has yet to allow a run in 6.1 innings for Colorado, he has just a 1:0 K:BB.

Sale (1-3) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on five hits over seven innings as Atlanta was downed 2-1 by the Rockies. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.

The veteran lefty was undaunted by pitching at Coors Field, putting together his best performance of the season on 100 pitches (71 strikes), including a massive 24 swinging strikes. Sale appears to be finding his form after a bumpy beginning to 2025, and over his last four starts he's delivered a 3.48 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB through 20.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Reds.

De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

The star shortstop then went 2-for-3 with a run scored in the nightcap -- the only run the Reds would score across the entire twin bill. De La Cruz leads the majors with 13 steals through 31 games to go along with a .281/.348/.438 slash line, five homers 21 runs and 24 RBI. He's currently in the midst of a 14-game hit streak and is batting .352 (19-for-54) during that stretch.

Petty (0-1) took the loss in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, surrendering nine runs on seven hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. He struck out three.

Making his first appearance on a big-league mound, Petty ran into trouble immediately as Willson Contreras launched a slider 421 feet to straightaway center field for a three-run homer in the first inning. While Petty's MLB debut didn't go according to plan, the 2021 first-round pick figures to see more action with the Reds over the summer as the team needs to plug holes in its rotation. Through five outings for Triple-A Louisville prior to his promotion, Petty put together a 3.52 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB in 23 innings.

Singer (4-1) took the loss in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out four.

The Reds gave him no run support in a 6-0 loss, and Singer tossed only 46 of 92 pitches for strikes, but he still came away with his third quality start of the season. The right-hander has looked very good to begin his tenure in Cincinnati, posting a 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB through 33.1 innings. Singer will look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Atlanta.

Matz didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Reds, allowing five hits over four scoreless innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

The southpaw may not have been available for a full workload after working in relief Saturday, but Matz gave the Cards 73 pitches (55 strikes) in an impressive outing, including 26 called or swinging strikes. He's been brilliant in a swingman role to begin the season, posting a 1.50 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB through 24 innings. If St. Louis sticks with a six-man rotation into May, Matz would line up to make his next start at home early next week against the Pirates.
