  • Reds' Connor Phillips: Activated from Triple-A IL

    Phillips (shoulder) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

    Phillips got a late start to the season because of right shoulder fatigue but has been activated following three rehab appearances. He pitched in relief in all three of those outings, and it appears that's the role he'll continue in for the time being.

    Fraley (calf) is back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.

    Fraley sat out the past couple days after tweaking his calf Tuesday in Atlanta, but he's ready to rejoin the starting nine for Friday's series opener at Houston. The veteran outfielder has gone 2-for-22 in his past 10 contests and has yet to get on track offensively in 2025 with a .678 OPS in 91 plate appearances.

    Brewers' Sal Frelick: Returns to Milwaukee lineup

    Frelick (knee) will start in right field and bat sixth in Friday's game versus the Rays.

    Frelick missed each of the previous three contests with left knee inflammation, but he's feeling well enough to play in Friday's series opener. The outfielder sports a .297/.381/.398 batting line with one homer and five steals over 135 plate appearances in 2025.

    Reds' Chase Petty: Recalled from Triple-A

    The Reds recalled Petty from Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

    The 22-year-old will take the rotation spot of Hunter Greene, who was placed on the 15-day IL with a strained groin. Petty made his MLB debut back on April 30 against the Cardinals but lasted just 2.1 innings, allowing nine earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three. Petty will likely get a longer look this time around with Greene expected to miss at least a couple weeks.

    Reds' Hunter Greene: Sent to IL with strained groin

    The Reds placed Greene (groin) on the 15-day injured list Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

    Greene suffered a Grade 1 right groin strain during his start Wednesday against Atlanta and will now miss at least a couple starts. With Greene out for the next couple weeks, the Reds have recalled Chase Petty from Triple-A Louisville.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Optioned to Triple-A

    The Reds optioned Hurtubise to Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

    With Austin Hays (hamstring) back from the 10-day IL and Will Benson recalled from Triple-A, the Reds sent both Hurtubise and Blake Dunn down to Louisville. Hurtubise slashed .083/.267/.083 across 15 plate appearances with Cincinnati.

    Braves' Alex Verdugo: Receiving day off vs. lefty

    Verdugo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.

    Verdugo started the previous seven games, including two against left-handed starters, but he'll sit Friday while in the midst of an 0-for-14 slump. Eli White will shift to left field while Stuart Fairchild starts in right versus Pittsburgh southpaw Bailey Falter.

    Reds' Blake Dunn: Sent to Triple-A

    The Reds optioned Dunn to Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

    Dunn appeared in 30 games for the Reds but slashed .150/.320/.233 with one home run, seven RBI, 10 runs scored and an 8:25 BB:K across 75 plate appearances. The Reds recalled Will Benson from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

    Reds' Will Benson: Recalled from Triple-A

    The Reds recalled Benson from Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

    With Benson getting the promotion and Austin Hays (hamstring) returning from the injured list Friday, the Reds are turning over their outfield depth chart. Both Blake Dunn and Jacob Hurtubise were optioned to Triple-A to make room. Benson slashed .289/.377/.521 with seven home runs, 29 RBI, 26 runs scored and five stolen bases at Louisville.

    Reds' Austin Hays: Back from injured list

    The Reds activated Hays (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

    Hays spent the minimum 10 days on the injured list and is ready to return to the lineup for Cincinnati. Prior to his injury, Hays was slashing an impressive .365/.431/.712 with five home runs, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored, one steal and a 6:13 BB:K across 58 plate appearances.
